Style:
The EOS 1100D is really very small. At key points the camera is fine rubberized. Of course, closer together but never pressed any buttons on the small area. The front has the typical Canon EF-S lens mount. Canon lenses of other cameras can thus be further used.
On the back is the really big 3 "touch screen with a first-class resolution and color reproduction.
Handling:
I have big hands and still is to me the EOS 100D extremely well in the hand. That she does not have the handle, as do the large models, does not bother me. On the contrary, I find it enjoyable, herumzuwuchten no monster. The kit lens balances the camera very well.
Even when I buckle my 55-250mm zoom lens on the camera, I can without much effort-handed (!) Shoot photos. Of course, this does not go on for hours but in between is not a problem.
By using the 50mm fixed focal length of Canon, I can only say: These two are really made for each other made. Both weight, handling and image quality are top notch and top unique in my experience!
Operation:
All buttons can be achieved very good. Shutter speed, aperture and ISO can be adjusted with one hand and very simple. The menu is typical Canan-simply and clearly. The dial of the modes is not overloaded and provides both the experienced photographer, as well as for the novice (or quick snapshots) the correct prefix options.
The focus of the operation is of course the large touchscreen. This I like very much. Use need not learn it - you know it from various smartphones. To change Wipe the picture, "pinch to zoom" for zooming in and out ... it all works really wonderful.
The settings when shooting can be very easily with the touch screen, for. Instance with sliders, change.
I was initially very skeptical and the touch feature for me was not a reason to buy. However, I am very used to it and it would also not want to miss. Who does not want, can around on the disk to wipe still quite conventionally use the normal keyboard. I have found no use situation that can only be used with the touch screen. The combination of freedom I find simply beautiful. Images "wipe" I indeed continue, but a shutter speed or ISO value, I always set with the locking wheel-a before trigger.
Pictures:
The image quality depends, of course, prevail on the lens. Still, I can honestly say that the pictures, which I have shot with the EOS 100D, are top notch. Significantly better than with other cameras (in my case, for example, EOS 1100D, 550D, Nikon D3100). That may have something to do with that the camera is so nice to handle.
Compared to the 700D:
Technically, the EOS 700D and the EOS 100D are nearly identical. Authoritative difference is size and weight, and that the 700D has a foldable and pivotable display. Another advantage of the 700D can be mentioned that there is also a battery grip for this model. A real difference in the picture quality you will be unable to determine.
Now the question arises: fully equipped or compact?
I have, therefore, opted for the compactness the 100D, because the little body better fit at great handling for me.
Besides, if I'm honest with me, I've never had my DSLRs here because they are too large.
There is indeed the saying: "The best camera is the one you have at it". This wisdom may well be true in any DSLR better than on the EOS 100D.
Overall conclusion:
I am thrilled with the EOS 100D! For me it is the ideal camera, you can always carry around. The equipment can also be measured with great models and the monitor is as sharp and true color that the mobile evaluating the images really fun, and productive.
Even with large hands can the EOS 100D properly operate and still feels "good" even after prolonged usage.
From me a very strong buy recommendation!
PS: The crisp trigger sound is (in my opinion) a blast. Since the sound engineers at Canon have done really good work. :)
