My requirements imposed on a new camera were:
-Kompaktkamera
-möglichst good image quality (low noise)
Wide angle of at least 28mm
-Good battery life
-mind. 2.5 inch monitor (preferably widescreen) with the highest possible resolution
-full manual adjustability
Recordings directly in the 3: 2 format (conventional format photo)
-Manual white balance
-lichtstarkes lens (initial luminous intensity at least 2.8)
(-at Least 3x optical zoom)
Except for the last property all requirements have been met by this camera and I'm glad to have opted for this device. As I photographed with my predecessors camera almost exclusively at 35mm focal length and also the entire zoom 3x used only very rarely, this was not particularly tragic for me.
With Fujifilm I was always very eigenltich zufriegen when it comes to image quality and operation, etc., as well as service. Unfortunately, my camera recorded but always shortly after the end of the warranty period a defect in the controls on and just could not be used with difficulty. That's why for me this time was only one other manufacturer in question.
Eigenltich I'm also not a fan of Panasonic cameras, as these usually have to contend with more noise and lower dynamic range compared to its competitors (Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Sony, etc.). The LX series is apparently an exception for compact cameras from Panasonic. This is not to say that the other cameras from Panasonic are bad. When it comes to lens distortion, battery life, processing etc. The units are usually better than the competition. It all depends on what one pays special attention. And that is the picture quality with me.
A competition with the Panasonic Lumix LX3 represent the G10 from Canon, the Nikon P6000 and the Ricoh GX200 is the only of these cameras has in the LX3 a lens cap -. Are taken - as with DSLRs. This is initially a bit annoying, but you get used to it quickly. The other cameras offer the usual automatic lens shutter, which is common with compact cameras.
What I've found is difficult to choose between these four cameras. All have their advantages and disadvantages smaller. And all devices are very mature.
Eventually, however, the bright lens with an initial aperture of 2.0 and the really very good image quality at ISO 100 has especially been the decisive factor for this camera. The picture quality of my actual favorites (Ricoh GX200) is unfortunately even at low ISO values too weak (excessive noise) for the in which they evolve cameras Preissegement. Because for almost 100 euros more to get even a entry level DSLR, which lower noise by using much larger APSC sensor on each case and makes better photos. However, taking a DSLR because of their size and weight also talk everywhere. And for that very reason I was doing. I wanted the best possible Always-In-Camera.
The operation of the LX3 is consistently evident and reveals itself quickly. Even though the models of Ricoh are the same somewhat intuitive.
The build quality of the camera is very good. It is noticeable only that the covers were made for the battery, etc., and the mode dial on the top made of plastic. The weight of the camera and especially the price, one could have recourse to aluminum. This would have the really very sophisticated look of the device increases again.
Through the image stabilizer and the light Strong Objetiv search images still make with ISO80 when other compact cameras have already arrived at ISO400. For a compact camera, the picture quality is really very good. ISO200 also brings really good results. From ISO400 picture quality decreases noticeably. Higher than ISO400 should go only in an emergency. However, it is the need to also rare. Even when shooting indoors without flash, I am not so far advanced beyond ISO200.
In the JPEG photos to show little distortion, vignetting or chromatic aberrations. Taking photos not only as JPEGs but also in RAW format on, you realize that the power of the camera is not alone due to the good Objetiv. Distortion of Objetivs is eliminated for example by the camera electronics from the generation of the JPEG file.
The whole may now listen sometimes a bit negative. So this is not meant - after all, I forgive also five star for this device. I have pointed out the really very few points that need, in my opinion even a slight improvement in this short report.
I am completely zufieden with this camera. Due to the quite high price I would, however, given her just 4.5 stars out of 5. But that leaves the evaluation system not to.
Conclusion: Anyone looking for a fully manually controlled camera with wide-angle and above-average image quality and can also dispense with telephoto shots, is likely to be happy with this camera.
Through the bright lens can also dispense often times on the flash when shooting indoors - leading to much more atmospheric photos leads.
