Customer Review

Preface:

I try - whenever possible - to avoid returns. Mir is reluctant to take things for the purpose of "trial and error" to order. In this case I made an exception - and am very happy.

The boxes were as a Christmas present for our Junior, 14y. thought, not really an "audiophile" man - "spoiled" but perhaps also a bit of our accommodation in the living room (equipped with 5xDynaudio). He had wished for Christmas a relatively expensive smartphone - and ultimately got the boxes should not be overly expensive. Since we since the 5.1-conversion in the living room until then really our beloved Yamaha AX-550 (2x 85 watts at 0.015% sin, up to 2x 195 Watt dyn, THD:. 0.003%) have "left", this should be the boxing journeyman. As the source, there are plenty of choices, RCA jack from the phone or BT receiver.

After a long search I found one on Amazon: "AEG LB 4711" for about 75. To me it is a mystery how to build boxes for this money - but who knows what makes a company like AEG purchasing anything is possible. The 49 reviews read is all not bad, a few "outliers" down, you always have, I thought. Just two weeks before Christmas wandered the boxes from the wishlist in the basket. A few minutes later the shock: delivery in mid-February ... So looking for alternatives. After a relatively short time, I found the "Magnat monitor Supreme 200". Even more positive reviews (relative), even fewer "outlier" down. Ordered immediately. On the same evening to have searched the entire Web ratings, actually found some ... rather not so positive, my confidence a few buy "useful" boxes disappeared. Shortly after, I received an email from Amazon that they are happy to inform me that the article "AEG LB 4711" is yet available and would arrive in time before Christmas. Insecure I let both orders "run" and received both at a distance of two days. First, the magnate - with their description, I would like to begin - and then the AEG.

Magnat monitor Supreme 200

The packaging relatively unobtrusive, rather positive. I noticed the distinct emphasis on positive, you really have to keep feeling something in his hands. Optical for my taste, "Well-yes." Rounded edges are not necessarily mine. When removing the cover - which is very easy to accomplish - much a black spot on a silver frame on tweeter. It was adhesive in conjunction with fabric remnants, the same material from which the cover are made. But this could be easily removed with a fingernail. Not so nice I feel looking into the bass reflex tube: there you can see the cables inside the box and the domes and Magnets from behind. I could not see any "insulation".

Connected with proper 2.5mm2 copper cable it went for the first hearing test. This was initially very sobering. The boxes sounded unusually quiet. I had the impedance in suspicion once did liken all parameters, the boxes should nevertheless actually fit easily to the amplifier. After a few minutes much to me but that the boxes were actually louder continuously. Probably the beads were so hard that it just needed a lot of time to play along. After one hour, was then already a pleasant sound to hear. In order to arrive at a final judgment I made the effort and built everything from (test site was my office) and in the nursery of my Juniors (about 24m2) back to (the morning, while he studied hard at school more or less). For the presentation of only two places were in the cupboard of his room in question, a box appears on the chest, the other above the head. I made myself comfortable on his couch and listened to different music on. In the end I was really very pleasantly surprised. Clear and clean ups, the same thing in the "middle", the bass could be a little more powerful. Although the back of the couch was vibrating clearly perceptible I found the bass than too little "present". But this may also kissed my ear (Yamaha NS-SW 700 as a subwoofer in the living room) to be owed. One of my favorite pieces of "Agent Orange" (Depeche Mode) - which I also like to pick on the system in the living room as Vorführobjekt - sounded on the two magnates finally really good.

AEG LB 4711

Two days later I received the AEG's. Packaging here also tidy - but when removing a lot to me immediately the "missing" on weight. I almost felt "nothing" to have in hand. And despite the size, the failure just significantly larger than is the case with the tycoon. Curious, I wanted a Blich under the covers cast - without a knife (or similar), this does not move. For the visual appearance of AEG (for the price!) Is a little highlight. But what matters is the very sound - for most people anyway (I hope!).

To make the test as fair as possible, I cut more 2x5m on my good role 2x2.5mm2 and connected all four speakers to amplifier. This has to be switched to the front two switches "Speaker A / B" between the two groups. So AEG at "A" and Magnat at "B". Both had from the beginning the same volume that the switchover during a piece of music, thereby facilitating a direct comparison about. To make it vornweg: the bottom line is I have to AEG's also given approximately 2 hours to play along. Let's start with the bass: a trace more present than with the Magnat, especially for large volumes - but only a trace. Above (middle, treble) are very, very large differences. When fast switching from the magnate for AEG has suddenly you feel to hear from a tin can. Amplifier thereby completely on "Pure Direct", no alienation by raising the bass / treble or loudness. When AEG "disappear" all the details, whether music or film. Towards the top of Oblivion, as Tom Cruise repaired the drone and then is reminiscent of the football match comes at the end of his memory a recording of a cheering crowd. The tycoon has to hear the feeling every single person. The AEG's will just provide a "mutilated porridge" from. Harold Falter Meyers "Axel F." - Is not one of my "favorite pieces" - but has a few interesting passages. The synthesizer sounds with the AEG's as if he had a cold and plays everything "through the nose". The magnate sound here again bright, loud and clear.

After a total of 3 hours, the result was clear (actually much earlier): AEG's go back - the "Magnat monitor Supreme 200" is by far the better sounding box. Certainly more expensive, in this case, the 40 pay but the full.

I rate these speakers with 5 stars in terms of their very reasonable price. Any course compared to speakers costing 10 times illogical.
