Update 30.10: The FPS number has now in fact more than doubled with a small update. Super!
Review:
I shall be so happy a little longer in reviews, but now I am trying times, to reduce my rating on the most essential thing (what with such a comprehensive but still some text). ;-)
I had Battlefield 4 played extensively in the beta and now since 28.10. the chance to play the final game. After these three days, so a total of nearly 20 hours of additional play time again in the final multiplayer (holiday thanks :-) was) I allow myself just once, deliver an opinion on the game.
** Single Player **
Let us first from the singleplayer. This has never been an overly great strength of Battlefield and it is not necessarily this time. We are located at DICE Although effort to create a story actionreicherere than its predecessor, which will also work, but it can not completely convince me anyway. The single player mode is designed really full of action: There's a crash, rattles and rumst in every corner, the campaign is by no means monotonous. And even if the shooter part is very well done, there are pent-up demand: the identification with the controlled player works hard to make the allies in firefights virtually no opponents and in some scenes comes plus a lot of illogic. Although all sounds very negative, so bad the campaign is not but. Just remind them with a straight focus on action scenes just more like Call of Duty.
** Multiplayer **
The multiplayer has also here again the centerpiece. With the predecessor I have spent more than 300 hours, were correspondingly high on my requests to the direct successor. Here BF 4 can convince: There are innately 10 multiplayer maps that could not be more different: Also it was still struggling in the high-rise on Siege of Shanghai, already find yourself in Paracel Storm in a jet ski again. The cards are not only huge, but on the PC also incredibly rich in detail, so you always discovered a new little thing that is a so not noticed.
On game modes, there are a total of 9 pieces, Battlefield veterans are of course the good old Conquest mode with tanks, jets and Co prefer (vehicles there is the way some new). New are the Spielmodu Defuse and obliteration - in the former is a respawn during the round not possible in obliteration it comes to destroy with a bomb various objects. For those who prefer a command post in the Call of Duty-style, reflected for example in defined parts of the respective card in Dominaton game mode at its own expense.
New in Battlefield 4 but mainly a feature called Levolution. This is central to that Spie-changing aspects that can be found on virtually every map. Two examples: In Flood Zone A whole city is flooded, from cars to boats and so in Paracel Storm, there is a change in the weather of summer weather in a violent thunderstorm. Sounds may be less spectacular than it is in the game itself: To complete rethink is called for by the players, a mission objective is at once, for example somewhere else than before. Also present are a few little things like retractable bollards, elevators, shutters
With the Server Browser Battlelog I have no problems at all. The classes are also a lot has changed, so the sniper can finally use C4, the Assault is not by far the strongest class as BF 3. Some weapons like carbines can now be used across all social classes, adapted equipment as known individually. A large amount of badge is provided for several hundred hours of gameplay.
** Technology **
Battlefield 4 looks stunning: The atmosphere on the cards offered pulling a so straight into it through the battlefield. Whether fighting in the desert, in nested transitions of a mountain bunker or in the city of Shanghai: Each card has its own flair and plays by itself thereby completely different. The textures are (even on relatively low settings) still sharp, explosions seem almost realistic, rich colors complete the overall impression. Compared to the open beta here has still done a lot and thanks to Frostbite engine's own destructiveness can be fully played. Not only building a rush, even break concrete walls, railings smaller flaps around etc. super.
At the sound, there are no negative surprises weapons all sound different and the drive a tank roars tidy and in an explosion you can imagine, the whole room is shaking ever. The German dubbing is pretty good, but the English clearly authentic.
But the flipside of the coin: The game is still very young, so there is still a lot of bugs: That from and stuck to parts of destroyed vehicles in the air, they could still accept every hour a crash (BF. 4 exe does not work), often completely vanishing sounds and a missing server queue but leave a negative impression. Meanwhile, the performance is significantly grown with me. I reached 29 yet only ~ 30fps I come with my AMD 7970 on Ultra settings and Full HD now at least 70 frames per second. Thus the fps figure is almost exactly with that of its predecessor, with improved graphics. So must!
** Conclusion **
Battlefield 4 has enormous potential to slip under my top 3 games of 2013 list. The single-player is nothing special, it has at DICE rather plunged directly to the multiplayer, which is a good thing. This provides a huge variety of maps and game modes that should prepare very long time. If EA and DICE get the aforementioned error in the handle, I am of course ready yet to add the vote the last star. Fun makes the game even with the bugs, at a full price title one may, however, extensive functionality expected for the current time there are so only 4 stars for Battlefield 4. A buy recommendation but I can now, thanks to the great performance of express.
