practical when votreTV do not have enough HMDI input. In my case I connected over a PS4, a media center (Cubox -i4pro) and a Chromecast. Self supply is working perfectly. The auto detection not by cons I have seen the media center and on permanently Chromecast. So I use the remote control to the IR receiver which provides the transition to a fairly limited scope ... require to get up off the couch to change the signal while I'm barely 2m ... not great for comfort
