Processing and facilities:
The build quality is really impressive the TravelMate and is on level with the much more expensive Vaio notebook, which we have in the budget also. The housing has a slightly matte finish that fortunately attracts fingerprints. The gap dimensions of the housing are uniformly and there are no sharp edges. Even the display is neatly edged and not tangled up in unilateral move exceptionally strong. The keyboard is integrated smoothly in the housing - no button is crooked or has game - has a pleasant key drop and a clean pressure point. For me an important point, and one reason why I have decided against the Ideapad G500 Lenovo, since quite a lot of criticism of the keyboard has been practiced.
Equipment side, provides the TravelMate the price range accordingly few surprises. A USB 3.0 port, HDMI, VGA, Ethernet, and headphone jack on the left side, 2 USB 2.0 ports, the DVD drive and the power connector on the right side, and a card reader at the front represent all connectivity options. In addition, WLAN 802.11n are and Bluetooth integrated into the housing. The display is dull and reflects therefore as good as not at all, but does not solve outstanding high when you consider that now offer smartphone a FullHD resolution. Mention should find even the processor as ultra low voltage variant has a very low power and coupled with the absence of a dedicated graphics card from the small battery is sufficient but brings out a decent life, to that later.
Handling:
The handling is expected to have a thickness of the notebook. Even under full load work is pleasantly quiet and the fan is barely audible. The surface stays cool and even after a long time on the lap to catch the legs including not to sweat. Here, the business orientation is noticeable. The matte display is the work very pleasant because they do not reflect light sources, but has a very modest luminosity. This is a shortcoming of the device and who plays with the idea to use the device often outdoors, which should look like to search for a different model, because the highest luminosity not even corresponds subjectively 70% of other notebooks, we in the house have.
As described above, the keyboard is excellent and it makes writing longer texts completely uncomplicated. The touchpad with its rough surface also reacts well and is easy to operate. Only the two hardware buttons for the left and right mouse buttons do not work quite as high, are not entirely enclosed in the housing plan and therefore do not fit the otherwise very good overall impression of the housing.
Performance & Performance:
I use the notebook as described for working and surfing above. To play it is also not due to lack of, high-performance graphics card. When working the machine cuts a fine figure. The processor seems potent and comes in strong multitasking not sweat, stuttering or long cooling-off periods have been as good as any. Even when playing FullHD videos, the device makes no weaknesses, just as in DVD playback. The 4GB of RAM are sufficient, in my view and the hard disk is aussreichend quickly. However, I missed an additional SSD partition that speeds up the boot process on Win 8, as I know the other (albeit more expensive) models ago.
It is nice having a Acer Bluetooth module integrated and quite simply exchanged data with a smartphone or external speakers can be connected. Coupled with the DVD drive, you can go so quite time enjoying a movie.
All in all, I thoroughly convinced that power and is perfectly adequate for the described application. Anyone who wants to play the latest games with the notebook, should look for a different model because the integrated Intel graphics are not particularly potent.
Battery life:
The battery is not particularly lush oversized compared to other notebooks. Thanks to its fuel-efficient processor, the omission of a separate graphics card and the faint displays over 4 hours Office operation on a single charge are possible (display half dimmed). Although this is far below the term of my Ultrabook, but for the price range quite good and useful.
Conclusion:
The somewhat weaker in direct comparison with models in the same house features make the TravelMate with its excellent workmanship, its low operating temperature, good battery life and its excellent keyboard up for it. The equipment is for working, surfing and multimedia operating quite useful and powerful enough to ensure that the work is fun. Only the display does not leave a good impression so. Although the color reproduction is good and the resolution just adequate at the screen size, but the brightness is not enough to work outdoors and of "high luminosity" as may be touted in the product description of the question. This shortcoming also prevents the 5th star because just the business orientation of the notebook portability and thus the outdoor use may be not an insignificant factor, even though I personally use the notebook mainly in rooms. Who goes there like, I can thoroughly recommend the notebook.
