Copper Clad Aluminium (copper-clad aluminum English, abbreviated CCA) designated by copper coated wires of aluminum. They are used in electrical engineering as a cheaper substitute for pure copper wires. The use of such cables can be dangerous due to the higher electrical resistance than copper because cable CCA heat more with the same amperage than copper cables with same cross section. Through the copper coating CCA wires are visually indistinguishable from copper wires. Only the significantly lower weight may be noticed in larger quantities of cables.
