Why I bought the notebook?
It's simple: Small, lightweight, removable hard disk and RAM, and of course because of the FullHD display.
What is my impression?
The screen is a stunner, otherwise the notebook is chic. It's really easy, it weighs with the enclosed bag and the attached adapters and power supply approx 1.7kg. Unfortunately, it has many quality defects.
Quality defects
As with others, I have on display halos. And several: Down three and above in a corner another. This of course is not that great, but is not noticeable in most applications. With me is the touchpad slightly crooked installed (but not bad), and there is on the lower floor next to a screw scratch marks, in manufacturing is probably because someone slipped.
Touchpad
The software is really bad, because I've seen much better. But with the updates from Asus is the slowly improving.
Power
The performance is top. With a Samsung 830 and 8GB CL-11 Ram the notebook achieved the following values:
- PCMark7; 3607 Points
- 3DMark Vantage: P4201 (3575 Graphics, CPU 8844)
- 3DMark11: P1124 (Graphics 1005 Physics: 3575, combined: 989)
Slightly disappointed I am, however, the integrated SATA controller. Although the reading almost 480 MB / s, but the random 4K values are rather poor. My Samsung 830 creates the Read as about 20 MB and write about 50 MB (actually should the 25 / 75MB can). I can not quite fathom why.
Accessories and Interfaces
The Ultrabook has only few interfaces, but at least 3x USB 3.0. HDMI and a DisplayPort (incl. VGA display adapter) and an SD card reader and a headphone jack are integrated. The LAN is WIA WLAN or WIA USB adapter available there but only with a maximum of 100 Mbps, which is little.
Suggestions
Obstruct 256GB SSD, the disk does not make sense. But possibly also offer a version without Geforce with FullHD display. More RAM than the standard block (8GB) and improve production control. Oh yes, a 14 "display would fit securely, the scope is very broad.
Buy - yes or no?
Who wants to have more than 4 GB of RAM and a full HD IPS display, simply has no alternatives on the market.
