Short: Rayman Legends is the best 2D platformer I've seen in a long time. It invents the genre is not new, but makes use of just about every imaginable, good game mechanics, the magic experienced and converts them perfectly.
Gameplay: The controls are very precise and feels natural. The jumping and racing behavior of the characters is similar to the same as in the predecessor Origins, compared to other platformers initially but a bit strange. The game features the familiar repertoire of moves like running, jumping, wall jumping, hitting, swimming, etc., but there is a very diverse. In addition there are some new features compared to its predecessor, the most striking from a new and emerging side character who can change and move items Stages of a button (for example, platforms back into the correct position). The level brimming with ideas and are not boring towards the end, but always remain diverse and motivating solely by the grandiose gameplay.
The main challenge often lies more in the traversing of levels as in fighting the enemy that can be defeated usually with a simple blow. In addition, there are, for example levels in which you have to be fast, levels in the style of a 2D arcade shooter, water levels and boss fights. My personal highlight is the bonus level at the end of each world, where jumps and strokes of the character on the music fit (music level?).
The game rises in difficulty slowly but steadily and is at times crisp, but in my opinion by the many storage points never unfair or frustrating.
Graphic: Graphic style is always a matter of taste. The game uses detailed, drawn 2D environments that are partially set by three-dimensional backgrounds in scene. It never falls out of the ordinary, the graphic style is absolutely consistent. In my personal view level and enemy design are funny, skuril and atmospheric. The game characters and enemies are amiable.
Sound: The sound effects go well with graphic style. Speech there (also because of the virtually complete abandonment of a story) not. The songs never get on your nerves, but some good ear. In the raised levels of music soundtrack for me reached its peak and is particularly relevant here on stereotypical music styles or even used melodies from well-known pieces.
Game time: You get something for the money. The exact playing time for mere play is difficult to predict for me, because I usually repeat levels directly, if I have not found anything. But at least I can say that I'm away quite far after three days of play of having unlocked all unlockables that Hauptleves but by playing with all Secrets (per day approximately between 2 and 5 hours game time?). For unlockable include many (20+?) Slightly reworked levels from the previous Rayman Origins and the possibility of old levels with new enemies in sections on prescribed time limits to play (..and from right to left), which increases the play time in addition.
As a bonus, there are online leaderboards, "Daily Challenges", a local, cooperative multiplayer and also local competitive minigame ("Kung Foot") for up to 4 players (no online multiplayer). The "Daily Challenges" are daily changing, small tasks where it is necessary to achieve the highest possible score, which can then be compared by separate leaderboard with the scores of other players.
Conclusion: Especially those who liked the predecessor, but also any lover of the genre should access. The game is varied, accurate, visually attractive and offers a lot of content for the price.
