For almost exactly one year I use the Nike + Fuelband, with whom I am very happy in principle. The app I find great, the appearance of the band class and the values given are okay. What bothers me: 1: The tape is not waterproof. 2: There is no tracking of sleep. 3: My band in L is a little too big. I got used to it, but it's not great yet. I then tried it with a ribbon in M with and without extension - it does not fit either way really. Why am I writing this? Because I finally have the opportunity with the Garmin-band, set the ideal size.
The most important advance: in connection with the Iphone 6+ band works almost flawlessly. I had no disconnections in the last 1.5 days. If the connection was lost (because I have BT off or I two rooms further have the phone can be), this within 30 seconds rebuilt. Does not always work immediately, is the synchronization of the step numbers with the app. So I can live basically. Sometimes it works immediately, sometimes not - for me not understandable why. The same phenomenon I have, incidentally, also with my Garmin Running Watch, the Forerunner 620, which is connected to the same app. Also, since the data are sometimes synchronized significantly delayed after a few minutes.
The notifications from iPhone to tape flaps properly. This is something I wanted to have more. For incoming mail, it is very exhausting to decipher the tiny letters, but okay. Most important are my incoming calls and these are displayed without any problems.
The display of the sleep data is fairly rudimentary, that I know of the Jawbone Up MUCH better. It records detailliiert how long you have light and strong and not slept. Technically, checking is possible, do not understand why this does not work with Garmin. Here is shown is quite coarse when I moved in bed. The evaluation of the Up! is meaningful, has been confirmed to me by a sleep physician.
This is done charging the belt via a special connection I do not think now that great, but that's not so bad, since the battery is to keep one week.
So:
+ Connection to the Iphone works flawlessly
+ Prima ads on the tape
+ Waterproof
+ 7 days duration
+ Flexible adjustable wrist
+ General Setting options on tape and on the app
+ Alarm
o sleep evaluation
o The Garmin app looks really bleak - especially when compared to Nike and to Jawbone
o special special connector for USB
o The step measurement seems to be working very generous, even compared to Nike, which I (still) carrying parallel.
At present I am with 4 stars. If the part to adopt in the next few days or make other funny business, I will this grudge here.
05:11:14 - First update after 48 hours of continuous operation.
I have the tape so worn parallel with the Nike + Fuelband. When Nike band I have always regarded the Fuelpoints (Nikes "currency" for activity) in the past. Since there is apparently regarding substantial discrepancies between the bands. Of precision I have now looked at the steps counted.
Where I thought the Garmin band would generously be expected (so) I have now that I actually counted the steps stated that the Garmin Vivo Smart steps very precisely recorded, whereas the Fuelband 10-20% too few counts - on the day is as high as 26% (!).
My iPod Nano 7 has a deviation of about 9%, Withings Pulse (supported in your pocket) a deviation of -7.4%, with the latter two to be carried only in fully clothed state and the difference is thereby significantly reduced (no I am not a nudist, I'm just in the morning already proficient additions before the day starts right - laying the table, children hunt etc).
Bluetooth:
There has been no single unmotivated disconnect. If telephone and separate band (eg at night), the connection with open BT is restored immediately.
Notifications:
The band reacts immediately and without delay, as soon as a message in the message center is received. I had even (for whatever reason) that I could see the arrival of a mail a minute on the tape before it is displayed on the iPhone
So far: Top - down to the pretty bleak App.
07/11/2014:
I counted steps again and come to a deviation of just under 5% between the real counted and calculated by the band steps. That's a very good value in my eyes and thick is within tolerance. The Fuelband I no longer wear now, the deviation has me downright shocked.
10:11:14:
All the best. No disconnections, motivation to go even more to be very high in the band show by the way, the steps that are needed even to reach the daily workload.
What I like: the tape is waterproof and is worn in the shower.
The sleep recording is weak. Still a shame. But I repeat myself.
Also, the morning wake-up works fine. In my Jawbone up the function was no longer available after a few days.
My wife has up24 incidentally get a Jawbone - which is not so in all the technical overkill. But it has the much better app on your phone ...
18/11/2014:
Everything continues to top. On the bike (40 minutes) are virtually no "steps" counted. The Nike + Fuelband has since counted diligently. Too bad: the activity goes with me now in the statistics under completely - and that's where I'm going some 100 kilometers a week. Too bad. I resent the activity manually via the app. Here but not countable results are recorded course then.
06/01/2015:
So, my last update - unless the tape makes Zicken: As in all the best: The band I wear 24/7. The connection to the Iphone works usually without problems, I had to help out perhaps 3-4x what an error rate of
