D-Link DGE-528T

To send an older computer over the network the impulse to start up, I needed a WakeOnLAN-enabled network card. On the motherboard of the computer said there was a 3-pole terminal for the WOL. The NIC would therefore must have a corresponding output, which is by no means self-evident.

This connection is available at the DGE-528T, as is the required WOL cable included in delivery. So there is no need to buy extra. This I found, however, only by a long research in various other online shops out there even with D-Link on the product side lacked this information.

When installing I proceeded exactly according to the instructions in the enclosed printed instructions. This is detailed and easy to understand that even laymen should be able to install software and hardware without any difficulty. The card is then recognized properly under WinXP and performs its service since reliable.

I give 5 stars for the proper functioning and the extremely sinvollen and complete delivery, which unfortunately rarely found in this form.

Update December 2011:
Meanwhile, running 2 copies of this card in a (currently) modern computers running Windows 7 driver installation was not necessary, the cards were automatically recognized and integrated into the system. Tests with Windows Server 2003, 2008 and Ubuntu 10.04 and SUSE 11.3 was also right to full satisfaction. Stable and quickly on a 24/7-operation. Thoroughly recommended.
