At its heart is for me the song "DMSR" which defines what is in this album - is - yes the whole prince: dance, music, se%, romance. where the order is not likely to completely agree.
On this album he goes his tendency to set to music reproduction gymnastics particularly eagerly: seven and a half minutes he brunftet in "Let's pretend we're married" a lady (or rather all women) to, but to pretend they were a couple, and Although, of course, all night long, until dawn. then followed by eight minutes "DMR" and a great deal "s.". and then he describes no fewer than nine and a half minutes in "Automatic" an obsessive love. results in 25 minutes pairing soundtrack at a time, which is more than most couples for scoring your activities need.
and to shrug their guitars, rumbling drums, lubricate the keyboards - Prince sounds when he puts instrument to instrument and thus slowly but surely the songs fully admits, never as a band. the songs always sound cluttered, designed - and yet incredibly charming and sexy.
This album is anlassiger, hormonally overdosed funk, with a bit of rock, but not a lot. The exception is "Little Red Corvette", that is pure pop, cute and at the same time not without danger.
all that comes out wonderfully, because the songs are simply good. The prototypical Prince album. better he was no longer, at most elegant.
