The HP appeared to have the right product.
Unfortunately, there was in the establishment to take a few hurdles:
After installation (connection via USB) of the computer no longer ran high when the printer was turned on at boot time. A look into the BIOS and the boot manager did not yield any findings or solutions. Since I could not find the problem but by none other, I lead the first back to a special feature of my computer configuration.
Unfortunately, the alternative to operate the printer as a network printer brought a hurdle with it. The provided Network Setup Tool from HP was unfortunately not connected printer. Configuration or entity was therefore not possible. Even the enclosed note with the extremely meager description of the installation of the network printer brought nothing. There should be read only the one needs the MAC address. Where this is lacking then enter then but.
On the HP-side but then gabs help. It describes exactly how to get out the MAC address, namely the Netzwerkstatusasudruck directly to the printer.
Only in a roundabout way I can but then found out that it is best configured in the configuration of the router / switch / access point via DHCP the MAC address of the router and should assign a fixed IP. After this was done, the installation was a breeze. All components (printing, copying, scanning, faxing, memory card reader) function properly. The computer then runs again high while the printer. ;-)
Connecting the fax:
Here you puzzled as not so adept end user something is really to connect such as the fax. Very well described is the type of the telephone line used. For example, I put an analog phone in my DSL splitter. There is no ISDN available. Reception of faxes so works on the same phone number as the telephone. Unfortunately, this however only one phone jack is available with the designation F for telephones. For this you have to know that the fax is no telephone, but a non-telephone then. So The fax must be connected to the N slot of the telephone wall jack. In the description, however, one reads that the printer then comes to the F-Box and the analog telephone into the port of the printer Ext2. That may indeed vote and also work, but also means that the printer must constantly be energized, since the phone's otherwise no longer works. So my printer plugged into the socket in the N Splitter, right next to the phone. After the device works without any problems with the Fax Setup Wizard.
Faxing while telephoning is of course not possible, since only one line exists.
The ink is more expensive when compared to other manufacturers. Whether the printer is really as efficient as the manufacturer promises remains to be seen. If that is so, then the price is perhaps not as high as it first appears.
Whether there are third-party ink I have not checked, but partly also bad experience with cheap ink.
You should configure well in terms of consumption so. The possibility to create their own printing profiles and permanently store is very good and certainly needed.
Deduction of points there, because the printer is quite noisy in general. The printing is not itself, but the scan and the permanent Hin and forth of the print head carriage and cleaning etc can be quite annoying. However, a printer is running well but not permanently, but only when it is needed.
When installing Desktop icons are stored on your desktop tons. There is no way to prevent this.
Unfortunately there are also keinerleih function, the printer automatically starts when you abuts a pressure. A real standby is not available. The display is only darkened and the On / Off switch then looks permanent. Per network can restart the printer but on and off by Wake on LAN if one allowed in the BIOS before.
Big downside is the slow software. Far too many functions are distributed to all possible locations of the computer. You look for dead. The Solution Center is not nearly as self-explanatory as one thinks. In addition, there continue to contact the online shop, even if you do not even installed this feature during a custom installation.
The Digital Guide is stored on the computer is very bad searchable - because the online help on the manufacturer's side is much better. Error message on the printer's display are difficult or impossible to be found in the manual.
Part of the printer's functions are only activated if the so-called Digital Imaging Monitor is started. This means that these be in the startup and therefore must constantly run along. Too bad, so there should be ample the start of the Solution Center.
Conclusion:
The printer can do a lot. The quality seems to be quite good. Processing is top. Print, scan, copy and fax results are very good. Unfortunately, the software interferes with the positive overall impression, pushing my rating down. The price of the printer to be proud of ... Let's see how long he keeps ...
