There are definitely NO Shuffle function for random playback of images. Random can be only the transition effect between each picture set. There is also no different versions of the device. In the menu Version 1.2.0 is displayed. The official website is no indication of a firmware upgrade, the online manual corresponding to the printed version. In the manual, only the random transitions are mentioned.

There is no way to let the pictures run in an alpha-numeric order. The images always take place in a single order: This is the one, as the files are physically stored on the Memory Stick. This also explains why some reviewers think that there is a shuffle function. There is not any. The sequence corresponds just not the usual pre-sorted list, you get displayed by Windows. Therefore, probably the error.

The shuffle function for image transitions is quite nice. If one from the menu, but you can not choose a specific transition. That would not be so bad if it is a simple and direct transition. Instead, there is an ugly visor effect that I do not like at least. That's not going to change.

A particularly curious effect - probably not is particularly tragic in everyday use - happens at each transition and points to the quality of the equipment software total back: Shortly before the "animation" of the image transfer, the resolution of the image visibly worse. After the image is displayed in full, it takes a moment and the resolution goes up again. It seems to me, this down-scaling is necessary in order for the processor the image transition hinkriegt reasonable. That already looks very ugly.

The photo frame consistently ignored the orientation flag of images, which is usually attached by digital cameras. This flag indicates whether an image is hochformatig or landscape format. This means that you, on this unit are all on-edge images, even if they are displayed correctly under Windows with a standard image viewer wrong. You have to manually rotate and save "right" so the images. In this regard, the next shortcoming is only logical ...

... Because the photo frame may not recognize how he was portrayed. The images are dull displayed as they are stored in memory. There is no rotation or consideration of the orientation of the photo frame. Since the processor is anyway already overwhelmed with the image data for the animation of the transitions (see above) should not be surprised this shortcoming. It follows: It is not possible, sometimes just to copy directly from your PC to an SD card some pictures and hope that everything goes smoothly. It does not work.
Conclusion:

The lack shuffle feature alone is quite an indictment of a digital photo frame. If you get to see from example 500 images always the same, that's really annoying. At least the thing will start in slide show mode when it was turned into same. If you separate the part but, for example, with a timer from the mains, it's always going from the beginning.
But a kill criterion is ignoring the information regarding the orientation of the image, so the EXIF Orientation flag.
One conclusion I find it difficult because of the notes in the introduction. Is it so that all the digital photo frame in the price range are so? I'm asking too much for 50? Everything possible, but also very sad. I for one was very disappointed. And I have not even counted the slow menu to the Contras. And a touch surface, I really did not expect. Rather, all the problems are only on the software side. The Hw for a recognition of the alignment must really not be. Then it would wenigstes nice if you could specify a (software) switch the direction. And if then the orientation flag would read, it would be already perfect.
In this respect, I give hard 2 stars. I think that part is very low and in some sense also inexpensive, but fulfilled in many ways just not what I expected of a digital photo frame. And I do not even internal memory or ne video feature.
