I was not mistaken, and the same in multiple senses.
On the one hand one expects again a deeply sensual, happy-making history, comparable to Garden Spells or magical My Garden: A Novel and The Sugar Queen. As in the books, a meet here again with amazing people, sometimes strange, sometimes wonderful gifts. What this book but from the other two quite different deutlisch: One of the families from Mullaby, North Carolina, makes a great secret of their gift.
But I'm talking in riddles. This book is mostly about Emily that runs after the death of the mother to her previously unknown grandfather after Mullaby. And must quickly realize that her mother was someone here other than the dedicated person, she knew. The second person is Julia, who lives next door, along with Stella. Julia is also a Heimkehrerin, and also it has the history (her, of the place of her family) to fight. Soon it comes to Emily and Julia also to love: new love, old love, forbidden love.
Who does not know Mrs. Allen, could now believe that all this is extremely cheesy. Not at all: it's just incredibly emotional and touching. And in the meantime also funny.
What I would now arrived at déjà vu: I felt compelled in the meantime, waiting for the emergence of Edward Cullen ... the comparison Emily / Win Bella / Edward pushed me just to ... You'll see. But do not worry, this is definitely völllig vampire free - but still find occasionally mention werewolves ;-)
