I've been using for many years, the Nikkor 70-300 4.5-5.6 VRII on the D80 and D700. Knowing the limitations, the recordings are so great mostly correct. As a travel zoom I will like to use continue.
The 2,8er allowed but finally the full discretion regarding depth and light. Cropping as one pleases, and not how it determines the lens. That was the idea before the longer-considered acquisition and has fully materialized. With the combination of the other two 2,8er Nikkor zoom, the set is therefore now complete.
A direct comparison of shots with my 4.5-5.6 (aperture rows with tripod, mirror lockup and different lighting situations) falls especially impressive sharpness across the entire image area - in fact even at maximum aperture - on. In the field of small apertures of high structural complexity compared to my "old" is more apparent. Here the resolution and contrast are simply much better. At the same aperture and in the central screen area, although the differences in the corresponding light are not large, and sometimes almost invisible (certainly not in full-screen view). However comes backlit or milky light into play, which is 2.8 for all parameters better classes. You can see that even then on the camera screen. Of course, the optical correction at the highest level.
Again, the weight and the price is already "impressive," and many other objectives are of course excellent results. The discussions in various forums and sometimes even here I often technology-dependent and remember that with simpler means excellent results can be achieved. The image idea and implementation does not take a from the best technique.
To make the gained ability in many shooting situations easy creative was personally worth buying for me. The cash-back action was there not to be despised.
And - I am just happy every time such a beautifully crafted lens to take in hand and thus fulfill my hobby - perhaps now the one time or another something "creative".
Another addendum to delivery via Amazon. The order was sent as always fast and great communication (was even earlier than planned because). But this was the repackaging of Amazon not, unfortunately for such an expensive and high-quality product acceptable times. Your original box Nikon slide quasi free in Amazon package was around and "buffered" with a little cardboard paper on one side. Face of dealing with such packages during transport is actually unacceptable. An answer to my feedback has not yet been received.
