This is due to the ventilation channel leading down around a notebook computer and not a laptop. This should be kept in mind, if you often want to use on your lap, the Lenovo G50-70 times. However, whether this leads to an uncomfortable heat, but is expected to show only after prolonged use. The purchase, however, is mainly meant to have a mobile office computer, which can also be used even in the living room. Under this aspect, the size and the weight is not a problem.
=== === Hardware
Processing I like the whole good. Of course you get for the price no metal and glass, but the rough plastic in carbon look like (only the screen is edged with shiny plastic), but quickly assumes fingerprints. Positive is the volume of the built-in speaker, would be to test with how these sound tinny. One should relatively early reduce the volume to 20, if you do not want to be constantly terrified.
The status LEDs I find too dark, also they show only whether the device is switched on and whether the battery is being charged.
The F-keys on the keyboard are as common now occupied with settings for volume, brightness, turn on / off the touchpad, flight mode, changing the screen or shortcuts for the App Exchange. Otherwise, my keyboard does not like, because they are ticking too spongy for my taste. It also springs partly strong. (Pressing a button pulls the surrounding keys down.) The built-touchpad does the job, sitting in my opinion, but too far to the left.
The picture is due to the low screen resolution of 1368 × 768 pixels only in combination with the screen size a bit grainy. Otherwise, however, the presentation like being an automatic brightness control would have been nice.
The number of connections is almost low for a device of this size, even if the principal is present:
VGA connector (important for older screens and projectors)
fully-fledged HDMI port, so no adapter is required when connected to the TV
3 x USB, one of which should 3.0
Ethernet port: This must be about 2 mm wide pressed for receiving a plug, which seems unnecessary in the housing thickness
3.5 mm stereo audio output, an input on the other hand is missing !!!
SD card reader
The connections have not been tested.
I noticed is more, that the battery sometimes does not always bomb stuck or not always properly snaps directly. Since I am but perhaps other mechanisms used. At runtime, I can not make any statement.
=== === Software
Positive aspect is certainly that Windows 8.1 is already installed. The number of updates to be installed is therefore no longer as great as feared.
But unfortunately Lenovo provides then but a variety of Modern UI and desktop apps, of which I have the most uninstalled directly. On the positive side is the desktop app Start Menu from Pokki which as the name suggests brings an alternative Start menu, which is likely to make the one or other moving to Windows 8 easier. With the reintroduction of the Start button on the taskbar in Windows 8.1, however, this program is a little below.
=== === Positive
DVD-RW drive: just in the office sector is much installed software on still more than silver discs
=== === Neutral
Ethernet jack: unnecessary folding mechanism
Hybrid SSHD: A nice for this price feature. However, a great speed advantage so far I could not identify.
Pre-installed Software: much unnecessary, but also an alternative Start menu
=== === Negative
low screen resolution
=== === Conclusion
The price-performance ratio must be considered as well. Note, however, that one of Lenovo for 100, - more that can have a comparable hardware slightly smaller (14 instead of 15.6) Idea Pad Flex, which then, however, a complete (albeit smaller) SSD offers and also a Full HD touch display (1920 × 1080 instead of 1368 × 768 pixels), but it has no optical drive.
