Hand I wanted this not do this to me, a Thicknesser seemed too expensive. The device in question appeared to be the solution. It came with two spare planer knives, one, albeit small chips bag, a rip fence and a sturdy transport container. Bit fiddly is the correct setting of the planer knives - here you have to be patient, otherwise you have no pleasure in later works.
Oh well. Strong is the unit, 2 mm takes it easily in a single pass of Spruce away, albeit with some pressure. However, the supplied chips bag is then flash full - almost after one pass over 2m. This means that three times the bags must be empty for one side, a total of a rather tedious affair. Okay, an attached sucker has remedied, though it is the handling was quite cumbersome. After all, up to 4 straits planing per day the device has gone through without complaint. After that I had no desire more ;-)
The biggest problem (probably in principle): It is hardly possible to slice an area wider than the 82 mm planing width cried freely. Even if you can exercise in setting the planer blades utmost care, so it is very difficult to work here according to accurate. But, to make it clear again, is probably affects practically will occur with any other planing of this type.
Not in principle is something else. Since the machine requires to perform clean by two hands (Block Plane is a joke, unless you are weightlifters or challenging in a very high physical strength comparable profession), you automatically grabs the knob for the planing depth. Because the locks not particularly, slipped almost inevitably the setting of this planing depth during the forward movement of the unit: - ((This I feel as the most severe deficiency, because you have to be extremely care of this handle, so just this, the change in the planing depth during planing, does not occur.
It is very positive, however, that you can screw the planing easily and at least easily comes close to the wiring. Carelessness and Trotteligkeit had in fact meant that I good 75 cm of its own power cord "for chucks" gave the planer, which will also be pleased and Rip-Rip, together with sparking and out flown backup completed (I now do not know, however, whether the fact that it is multi-core electric cable almost as well as chipped wood, considered positive ...). However, it seemed to me perfectly possible to connect a new cable and then continue working as if nothing happened. ME this indicates a quite robust design.
Positive and negatives:
+ Powerful engine
+ Robust construction
+ Can be a claim itself screwed and reassembled.
+ Ordinary equipment
+ Good planing results for workpieces up to the width of the planer blades
+ Neat long cable (if not cut through their own stupidity ...)
- No extra grip for the second hand - risk of change of planing depth during planing (main deficiency)
- Hardly called free work with workpieces> 82 mm width possible (but works fine in principle)
- The Paralleanschlag is - uh - strange ... Maybe I'm just too stupid to understand the instructions ...
Conclusion: if not processed workpieces wider than 80 mm, is very kräfig and can operate the device with one hand and do not rely on the highest precision / she is not required to have a robust tool, the lot to make weghaut without prematurely flabby for little money.
However, those who is looking for a precision that is good for furniture, you should look elsewhere and also clearly take into account higher price regions.
