Legends are back!

Celebration Day (2CD + DVD) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

A brief introduction: this is a review of the music of this extraordinary concert and no DVD review that interests me only at the very edge, because I might switch the DVD, look twice and the CD probably a lifetime to hear every now and then will.
This is now not happen every day that true legends come to the decision to realize a comeback after so many years and what I believe at all never happened was that they give only one concert. But Led Zeppelin have always been different, where also their immense success was founded, including the creation of legends. That such a project is of course present some risks, was the boys determined clearly. All the more respect is due to this project, because the money was I do not think this time the main reason for this revival, since it would probably planned a series of concerts.
The risks were therefore previously obvious: 1. Can Jason Bonham his father John, the drummer about replacing? 2. Are the three founding members Plant, Page, Jones, familiar yet so fit and with the repertoire and they still have so much fire under the butt, as necessary? 3. What about the voice of Robert Plant?
Well, I guess that the men rehearsed extensively to find that they still have what it takes, or they would not do it.
Now to the music: The fact that this live show was legendary for several reasons, which I will not list them here in detail and repeat, but I express wirklch only and exclusively to the music and which is at its best that you can probably say without exaggeration. What can the four here from the stack, all honor is worth. And I'm quite honestly, that I never expected, not with this force, not with this precision. It feels almost as if they had never been away. Jimmy Page hurls his Solis in the room that you want to almost take cover, John Paul Jones is the virtuoso bass player he has always been and Robert Plant makes an equally surprising positive figure, although it of course does not reach the high Töen of earlier and no longer even want to achieve, it sounds so great, just a bit different, but only a little. Jason Bonham inferior to his father in nothing, everyone knows who deals with this kind of music in recent years, because then he knows what an outstanding drummer Jason is and he proves in this concert with a fulminant presentation.
What strikes me is the fact that the music of course not this savagery and brutality has in previous years, that is, logically, among others on the one hand due to the age and on the other hand the no longer used drugs. Anyone who has followed the career Led Zeppelin, know what I'm talking about here. For this is in every respect a exrem high and audible value to experience that has accumulated over the years with other musicians and styles of each of the musicians, which is hard to miss and makes another fascination of this concert from. Add to this a superb virtuosity, after so many years, amazing! If you with "How the West Was Won" compares the pieces noticed msn also slightly different arrangements and details in almost every respect. There is a clarity that was not previously available and so the repertoire is another face, neither better nor worse, just different, interesting and exciting.
Therefore it makes no sense to compare the old Zep with these. It was a concert of superlatives in many ways, but it was mainly a musical spectacle with extremely high entertainment value and will also go down in history of this group and the music world.
Not only for Zep fans, but for all music freaks an absolutely recommendable Set !!
