Sony MDR-10RBT wireless headset (Bluetooth, AAC codec) (Electronics)

Customer Review

I was for a while in search of a good headset to having a through Bluetooth freed from cumbersome wires and a sound quality without much compromise.
In the Saturn branch of my confidence, I spent several hours with pre-listening, what with headphones is also absolutely essential in my opinion, because no review of the world can describe the sound headphones properly objective.
Listening is very subjective, therefore everyone must gather his own impressions of themselves, a review may perhaps highest describe the general pattern of the sound reliable.

So I then tested me by many different models, and have always sample belongs to the iPhone, if this was possible.

Then I'm stuck with the Sony MDR-10RBT.

The scope of supply:

+ Storage pocket with extra pocket for a cable
+ Nice Aux cable (2x 3.5 mm) with good length
inconspicuous black, but very soft material and easy ribbed surface
Gold plated connectors
+ Short instructions in many languages for rapid setup -> be the most do not need

- No more detailed instructions in paper form
- Detailed guidance only online, accessible via QR-code on the Quick Start Guide

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To look and feel:

+ Chic appearance by dull colors and beautiful color combination (black - red - gold / platinum)
on the Amazon images affects the outer ring of the shell and the connection to the temple more silver, but is rather pale-golden to platinum color that looks very classy
+ Super workmanship
+ Very soft ear pads and headband pad
+ Shells not hinged, for very good rotation
"inwards" 90 degrees (headphone is flat), to the "outside" to the 20 degrees (adjustment to ear incline)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For comfort:

+ Generally very high wearing comfort
+ Pleasantly soft pressure, still very good grip on uneven or forward bent head: the head Hörter is held by the ears: D
+ Despite weighing more than 200 grams hardly noticeable on the head
+ Good shielding to the outside, at normal volume barely audible from the outside

+/- Good isolation from ambient noise, since closed tree form and circumaural -> can also be a disadvantage, for example, road traffic

- Too flat for my ears / thin ear pads -> ear sometimes comes to the hard grid in front of the driver

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For Bluetooth function and operation:

+ Very quick and easy pairing (even without NFC)
+ Incredible battery life (15+ hours'm at but there goes something)
+ 3 quality modes (AAC or aptX, SBC high, SBC)
+ Generally well-to-use buttons with good tactile feedback, but ...
+ On the iPhone very low delay
+ Also with the PC 0815 USB Bluetooth adapter only slight delay

- ... Unfavorable assignment of the buttons for forward / backward and volume up / down - to press> to play / pause you have to push in the rocker switch, It can easily happen that the rocker to the left
or right and pushes you skip the song or promptly starts from the front: - /
The exchange of Volume up / down with back / forward would make sense, because it would not be so tragic if one is louder or quieter by mistake.

- In the accompanying instructions is nowhere explained how to change the quality mode. Therefore one must look into the digital guide that just as Link and the QR code of the Quick Reference Guide
is listed (hold on power "Lauter" in order to increase quality mode, "Leiser" hold to lower it, and defaults is the mean adjusted (SBC high)

- Very low Bluetooth range when using AAC (eg the iPhone / iPad)
- Not be controlled from the iPhone volume on the headphones, only the own volume of the handset
- Cable the buttons are not working -> shame
- No activation of Siri (the iPhone) possible -> also pity

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To the sound (and that is yes but then the most important):

+ Very rich, warm sound with pleasant and clear highs and mids (no shrill sounds)
+ Both AAC and SBC on high almost no difference to the cable audible (for my amateur ears)
+ High volume
+ Very well suited for electronic music

+/- Very bassy

- Bass is strongly emphasized (especially the electronic bass, the drums less), but it's not particularly powerful
- Bass comes to the fore, more refined midrange and treble are sometimes covered
- Low-bitrate MP3s sound dull quickly, so pay particular attention to quality!
- Pure voices, eg for audiobooks, sound by enhancing the bass frequencies to dull, especially deep voices resound strongly

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion:

I'm actually a fan of strong bass, but these have to be punchy and not booming and all other overlapping.
Therefore, at first I was a little disappointed with the Sony MDR-10RBT.
My only sound reference, apart from the Apple apple earbuds, the Logitech Headset F540, which has a very clear and neutral sound with restrained but powerful bass.
Accordingly starkly the difference is every time I switch headphones from the headset to the Sony.

For fans absolutely lifelike and clear sound of these headphones is in my opinion nothing.
I could well make friends with the sound but, even though I would have liked more clarity and less enhanced bass.

The other functionality, appearance and quality convinced a lot!
So if you can overlook the bass-heavy sound, or want to customize it by equalizer, a highly recommended piece of technology, which is well priced at competitors like the Beats Wireless.

For my part I have so my search for a good Bluetooth headset ends and hope that my experience can help anyone.

EDIT: I have now the sound of my Apple devices via equalizer adjusted so that there is a little less bass and a little more treble.
So I like the sound of the headphones very well, since it acts much clearer and no longer cover the bass the centers.
However, it is a pity to have to change the sound again later.
