So my tip:
Measure immediately after installing the batteries the number of charging cycles. I did it with the iBackupBot program (there are certainly also other programs). It can be downloaded for free from the Internet. But please do not use this battery programs from the App Store - absolute nonsense !! These programs have no access rights to the information of the charging cycles of the iPhone !!! Typically, a cycle control starts from installing the app, so these values are not correct!
Therefore, either in Cydia Store to install the appropriate software (jailbreak required) or just the program that I mentioned above use.
The reading with iBackupBot's easy. To read the charging cycles, you have to open the program iBackupBot (the Mac is an installation not required) and connect the iPhone. There appear a few loading bar and a couple of error messages, which is ok. When the program is open, click on the left side under Devices own iPhone. Then there is the possibility about the middle on a hyperlink "More information" to click. Then right a small window should open with the desired information about charging cycles, capacity, .... If this explanation is not sufficient, there is also on the manufacturing side of the program nor a more detailed instructions.
I'm curious to see who else has received a battery 0 charge cycles.
Values my batteries immediately after installation:
Cycle Count: 387
Design Capacity: 1420
Full Charge Capacity: 1148
Status: Success
Battery Current Capacity: 17
BatteryIsCharging: true
ExternalChargeCapable: true
ExternalConnected: true
Fully Charged: false
GasGaugeCapability: true
These data were read out directly after installation of the battery with the program iBackupBot (V 5.1.0.3).
Update (13/02/2014):
Since I now have another iPhone 4 battery with the APN for a friend wanted to change 616-0521, I was faced with the decision to buy again at Avanto a battery, although I actually had a bad experience with my first battery (387 charge cycles 1148 mAh). Since it but unfortunately barely / is no proper alternatives for batteries with this APN from Amazon, I gave Avanto a second chance.
Lo and behold, I have again received a used battery:
Cycle Count: 124
Design Capacity: 1420
Full Charge Capacity: 1297
Status: Success
Battery Current Capacity: 63
My guess is therefore that Avanto batteries of iPhones that are cannibalized, resold again. On one hand, this is of course determined better than if you get a low battery and that after a few months to lose its capacity. Nevertheless, I do not think it's okay, these batteries to sell as new, since no battery has reached the actual setpoint of 1420 mAh.
I would be interested it very, who received all used batteries, or if only I am the only unlucky here. Postet your best values here as comments.
Update (14/02/2014):
Just AVANTO replied to my review:
"Dear Mr ...,
it is normal that the batteries have a number of charge cycles. This is an indication that the battery has been tested at the factory.
Nevertheless, many thanks for the review and have a nice weekend.
With best regards

"Dear AVANTO team
Thank you for your quick response. However, I do not quite understand your statement. Do you want to tell me that the battery was tested 124 times at the factory? That would be a process that would take nearly six months to complete. And with my last order (387 charging cycles) the battery has been so roughly tested one year ?? So please, but I suppose you not from, especially since I have already installed batteries from other manufacturers that did not charge cycles.
And if that is the case where a battery needs to be tested, then you should just a few charging cycles, but not 124 or 387th
Or would you please briefly describe to me how you test your battery for the factory? Maybe I have something not quite understand.
I wish you a nice weekend.
With best regards "
"Dear Mr ...,
testing no batteries separately to a device.
It is we worked with similar devices here:
[...]
There are actually all the cabinets with a large capacity.

"Dear Mr ...,
Why then have these batteries a different number of charge cycles? As such different values come on?
Furthermore, the battery capacity is reduced by the charge / discharge process. So why the batteries are exposed to so many charge cycles at your plant?
With best regards "
"Dear Mr ...,
the batteries are different time in the test bench and tested unsystematic long. Therefore, different charging cycles. The battery capacity is not reduced. If you know to buy the batteries of the Mitbewarb, then why we test the batteries so intense.
We would be very pleased if you remove the rating. Finally, the acquired product is working properly.

"Dear Mr ...,
Unfortunately I have not been convinced your arguments why you should test each battery separately so many cycles. This would involve a lot of effort, so that it would no longer be profitable. Especially as the batteries are produced in China, where they are tested primarily on their quality. So why test each battery again? Any normal operation tests using samples, but not every single battery.
Furthermore, had only boast the battery 387 charge cycles only a capacity of 1148 mAh and the other with 124 charging cycles a capacity of 1297 mAh. Why do you test the batteries until the capacity suffers? Especially is actually referring to a nominal value of 1420 mAh. Both batteries could not reach this value.
With best regards "
"Dear Mr ...,
we do not test the batteries here. It all happens in China.

So I find the reasoning of Avanto has not convinced. Especially as a new iPhone from a friend after about two weeks had less than 10 charging cycles.
Therefore, I suppose still that the batteries constitute here used batteries that already a few months were just installed in mobile phones. The question is just whether you can live with that, if the capacity is reasonably okay. The target value lies at 1420 mAh. My battery had received: 1148 (387 charge cycles, 20% lower capacity than nominal value !!) and 1297 mAh (124 charge cycles, about 10% less capacity than nominal value), which is not very good. This speaks for a battery that has been used for over a year, or for someone who was already built half a year.
Perhaps there is therefore also so many different reviews here, one has just lucky and get a battery with few charge cycles, and the other not.
Update (14/02/2014):
A friend of mine ordered a Avanto battery and read the following information:
Cycle Count: 29
Design Capacity: 1420
Full Charge Capacity: 1348
Status: Success
Battery Current Capacity: 38
As it stands, there are really big differences in the ordered here Batteries.
