You want to strike down masses of enemy hordes as a hero makes it so? - Then you are wrong here!
You want to be driven with glossy videos through the story? - Then you are wrong here!
You want quick fights and quick success? - Then you are wrong here!
Why? I'll explain it briefly:
In "Pillars of Eternity" there is no cinematic Monstermassenschnetzelorgien. There are sporadic enemy hordes but mostly from max. 5-6 opponents insist and require a sophisticated group tactics. Where should the magician and he shall attack or strengthen the group with healing spells? Engages the villain out of the darkness from behind?
Especially whom and what I need in my group. Presented a magician or maybe two? One can attack while the other heals. Do I need an archer can draufhalten remotely or better with two melee into the fray?
These are all essential questions which have to be well thought out. In other RPGs do not care. As will be leveled quickly and importance is often only one's own taste in the character choice.
A story told in SuperhochglanzHDVIdeos? Is there not here. The story will be exquisite in cutscenes and found books and extensive discussions with NPC's. Kopfkino is asked and if you do not can your imagination to enjoy the history of a sense or nonsense to elicit. Can not you? From Diablo 3 play; -) !!!
Fast times 400 wild boars and 800 rats killed by the experience bar hochzupowern? Can you completely forgot. First, because it does not simply gives those opponents masses and secondly any experience needed by discovery, solve to be earned from duties or calls. According to this point will be good then also invested. A magician takes less athletic but lots of knowledge.
So now to the rest of you:
You were or are fans of Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale?
Then I tell you full of joy: "Welcome Home"
Obsidian stay here absolutely word and have a game created in the traditions of the two above-mentioned title.
An opaque early leaves you wanting more and the longer you play the more pull one the characters and the story in its spell more.
This is one of the few games that I have supported from the very beginning (the second is the way (Torments: Tides of Numenera and the first was Divinity: Original Sin)
Even alone optically the game can not hide its proximity to the classics and lovingly drawn, rendered landscapes (although unfortunately very static) and 3D characters do the rest. All this seems so delightfully old-fashioned, classic and yet modern at the same time.
Only the magic effects enspringen today's graphic standards.
The same applies to the combat system and the control total. Obsidian has tried to combine the classic with the modern, and which is absolutely first class.
The game breathes in all corners of the air of the great role models but society is not in the shade but attracts the same and it has what many other games would like to have SOUL !.
Sure, there are still the occasional shortage especially in the perormance but that should get one or two patches in the handle.
Who loves the classic RPG's can not avoid "Pillars of Eternity". Unless you need but to purchasing, as a lover of the game of this category do not appreciate what a great job Obsidian have delivered here.
