After much deliberation, I have decided for this lens for my Canon EOS 10D and there is absolutely no regrets. On the analog film camera conversion converted it corresponds approximately to a 29-320mm zoom lens, the light values are very good for a lens in this price range, and it brings a higher resolution than the chip of this camera can eat, is in my opinion suitable to about 10 MPix. In wide-angle mode, it begins just to bulge the motif recognizable on the edge (known problem with all wide-angle lenses from 28mm focal length below), since the designers and engineers have done a great job and have gone to the limits of feasibility. The telephoto mode is very good in its optical performance, suitable in my estimation to about 10 megapixels. Then would be the Macro mode, the also has to offer this lens, small objects can take to a distance of about 20 cm in good magnification, but it replaces obviously not true macro magnification lens, with such recording then occurs a noticeable edge curvature on. The autofocus works in wide-angle mode with absolute precision, from about 135 focal length and when shooting distant objects or landscapes but you do better to turn it off - it specially, there's a button - otherwise there will be problems with constantly changing focus settings. There is a lock button that prevents the lens itself moves out of its own accord, a sun and glare protection is attending, of course, plastic ware ;-) which is pushed when not in use on the focus adjustment ring. And finally: Yes, it looks very much like plastic, but the grips are made of comfortable rubber coating. Conclusion: This is a real all-round lens for both indoor, portrait and landscape photography, as well as adding Macro shots are on top of everything possible. It is as flexible as it is humanly possible with this part. Highly recommended as a travel lens for every situation, for the ambitious hobby-photographer, conditionally recommended for the semi-professional field, the professional should this lens fingers leave and take a greater teller in the eye.
