Does what it should. And the very good / good

Wanted I had a EURO A3 + photo printer capable to 300. To select the current Canon Pixma i8750 and the Epson Stylus Photo 1500W were (published 2012).
Through research in the www I then decided to use the Epson. He is not only a bit cheaper, but here also appears the support provided by 3rd-party to be larger (more on that later some more).

The Epson Stylus Photo 1500W uses 6 separate ink tanks: light cyan, cyan, light magenta, magenta, yellow and black.
Paper sizes go up to the so-called A3 + format. The printer prints borderless, ie without visible edge of the paper.

The package includes: power cable, Quick Start Guide (sufficient), software CD, the 6 ink tanks, special tray for CD printing and a small selection of Epson photo paper.

Setting up the printer is properly based on the quick start guide. You need to set up the printer for WiFi / WLAN PC or Mac. The wizard of the software CD helps here with no problems (Win8.1).

The print volume is not unpleasant at 2m distance. You can hear the Paper Source, the engine and the printing unit. But it does not bother if you have the printer is not directly in front or beside him.
The space requirements you should still calculate. Backward comes to the pure footprint something needed space added for the hinged slant paper feeding. The paper is inserted via the paper supply the rear and front ends to the pressure in the horizontal tray (here forward ensure sufficient space).

The text-only printing is good / very good and can not be distinguished at first glance without a magnifying glass by a laser.

The photo print on the included Epson paper like it very much. I as a normal consumer could not be distinguished from a photo from a photo lab. The colors are realistic to the paper and the details are also available relistisch.

What I have not yet getetstet are pure black and white photo prints. Here the Epson is supposed to be "only" good, because it lacks a gray ink. It must be made with the pure black cartridge everything.

Decisive for the Epson 1500W was the offer of third parties. For example, for large external ink tanks, ink sets for black and white printing with 6 black / gray inks, high-quality alternative ink and the relatively low price of the device itself.

The operating costs are comparable with the Canon products. Original ink is more expensive, but should be very good.

What is repeatedly struck me uncomfortable, are ink marks on the back of the printed medium. Therefore, the point deduction. I'll be watching that and see if it now was only through the initial setup to increased ink splashes alongside the media, or whether it is a shortcoming of the product / model.
