I shoot about 99% M, AV, TV, or if time is of essence and P Limited with ISO 1600.
By the way, it makes sense the ISO rate of change in immovable motifs like landscapes to ask to slow for everyday use on standard and for everything that moves on quickly.
Then the camera suitable minimum ISO values and the necessary MEANINGFUL makes pretty intelligent aperture times
The scene programs I use to have some fun times only. The HDR is to use even super unlike the S95.
First of all: are with 200% screen the photos taken of course worse than my DSLR. POINT! But with regard to 24-inch screen size customized recordings, it is often as good = excellent!
This means that even Din A2 printouts are razor sharp and have very realistic colors.
It is better than the S95 in all focal lengths.
With the Canon G7x can be photographed very well at concerts and they may, in contrast to my DSLR without always ask with pure. Until ISO 1600 all is also very useful even with maximum zoom.
Basically I photograph at concerts in JPG and RAW and do intentionally underexpose slightly. Then I often need a maximum ISO of just 400 even at 1/200 shutter speed and maximum zoom with great 2,8er visor ... And later you can on the computer with the very useful software Canon correct the exposure upwards again. Freezes the motion at a nice musicians.
Speaking Maximum Zoom .. I'm not a fan of digital zoom, but the G7x makes up to 8.4 times more real impressive sharp clear photos. This corresponds to the magnification of my 135 lens on my EOS 650 ... That is for everyday life is more than adequate.
At open aperture 1.8 and macro (close to the subject to) the focus sometimes sits next to ... I had not at S95.
But to get over if you take makes either manually or focused to God's name just three photos of the same object with slightly varying target points.
Super is the "M" really means Manuel. That means I may even flash Manual rules: If you fully photographed, for example, in the setting sun with blue sky and small aperture (= big blind value) purely holding and a man lightens in the foreground with the flash it looks stunningly beautiful.
In general, the colors look great, of course. The S95 has always done in a neutral setting bit too much color saturation.
The battery is much expensive and has annoyed me as well but I've still bought the same one to do so. I create 250-300 photos with a fully charged battery with no flash.
Oh, movies (not my reason to buy) are the way of the hammer. The only pity is that the built-in microphone at rock concert volume ;-) unfortunately distorted. In my EOS 650 can be the manually readjust.
The situations where I take with my DSLR unfortunately less be. The S 95 I'll probably sell ... she has no authorization.
Plus points:
- Size 100% pocket Suitable
- Feel. Everything is in the right spot. And feels dibasic.
- Picture quality is very good
- Even in low light super shots
- Focused quickly
- ND filter for long exposures even during the day
- If over the entire zoom range sharp. (Was not so with my S95)
- Lightning Manuel switchable and flash output either manually changeable
Folding screen shoot great photos close to the ground -
- Touch screen is very useful for focusing decentralized (even with videos)
- Very good image stabilizer.
- Very good to ISO 1600
- Good to ISO 3200
- Always still usable up to ISO 6400
Minus:
- In 1,8er panel and close to the object to it (macro!) From time to time false focal point.
- Battery Price
My tip is the Vivanco 34280 neoprene case 115x75x20 mm. The protection against light bumps and dust and most importantly, the camera remains small! in his jacket pocket.
Since you can slowly work your way from fully automatic to full control "M", I can recommend the camera for beginners and professionals. Who wants to invest the corresponding cash.
Hope to have helped :-)
