I am satisfied with the NiteCore SRT3 very. The purchase price of EUR 81.- seems high to me, but adequate. The NiteCore tolerate the battery formats CR123 and AA, the requisite extension is included. They can be precisely screwed between end piece and front piece. I use the lamp as a rule, with a 3.7 V 14500 Li-battery, a "normal" AA battery with 1.2 or 1.5 V also works. Especially important to me is the stepless dimming. Very good: in the darkest setting is the bill practically only be seen when one looks into it from the front of the lamp or the dark adaptation has already found instead (who now wonders, why we need it: wherever you are in the dark must reliably control by environment observation and broadcast in parallel to a card or instruments; almost all other dimmable flashlights have been very bright lowest setting). As a normal flashlight me mostly extends approximately half the maximum brightness. When I feel superfluous to SOS mode and the "American police Simulation" (the Secondary LED is flickering driven in red and blue), but it does not hurt, because they are not activated accidentally. The Locator Beacon controls the lamp of flashlight-like, here I can possibly imagine a meaningful use as a warning light. The additional red / blue LED I find also useful. You can, however, not dim, so I mostly operate the lamp with upstream extra red filter as a pure red light, because it is otherwise too bright again. My wish for the next verstion, would be well to make these dimmable.
The setting means (obviously internally magnetically functioning) rotating ring I find enjoyable and precise. Just be aware that you can not come into the immediate vicinity of a magnet with the ring ( I have the lamp every day at the man and am very happy with it.
