Of these Airport Express speakers I have, since July 2013 3 piece in operation.
iTunes call, select title and activate the desired AE's and is already running everywhere music. One great thing and easily.
The music streaming has initially also worked wonderfully until probably an automatic update of Mac OSX 10.7 made in October for regular disturbances.
Since then, a piece is no longer streamed continuously but with constant interruptions. That has not changed with the latest OSX and iTunes version.
The latest firmware upgrades of AE boxes have led to no improvement.
The only thing is is that I choose instead a headphone output of Airplay speakers via the System Preferences> Sound. This is but am just fed only one of them.
When I select them against a single in iTunes I have off and on again.
The relevant Mac forums, English as German, contain a lot of threads on this issue, both ancient and modern. A plausible explanation for that I have not found so far, let alone a solution.
To buy new or additional hardware from Apple, I do not think this is a sensible strategy, because this reward a high-priced providers like Apple so that it dysfunctional and poorly coordinated components supplies, is not very well lead to improvements on the part of the manufacturer.
As a workaround I've found out that the streaming of iTunes on Windows 7 (just) work at this AE boxes properly and without any interruption.
(This can also, when running Windows in a virtual machine on Mac, in question !! :-))) I can so my iTunes library on my iMac iTunes tap on Windows and so successful throughout the house listening to music.
That sounds really crazy, but is true.
