My setup:
Macbook Core 2 Duo 2GHz under 10.8.4 with 4GB Ram
The product:
- A SCART adapter / RCA to connect behind the VCR
- RCA / RCA cable (Red, White, Yellow) to connect between the recorder via the adapter to the case elgato.
- The case elgato to plug in USB to computer
One can also use an S-Video cable (not supplied) VCR or camcorder if has an S-Video output. Elgato box supports S-Video.
We choose a title, format 4: 3 or 16: 9 (4: 3 being the VHS format), one can verify the presence of his then starts scanning in one click. It starts playback on the VCR and visualized in real time on his computer playing the VHS. Thus one can stop when you see that it's over, or tell the software to stop after a while.
When you stop scanning, you can trim the beginning and end to keep only what you want.
The output format is 640x480 and not 600x480 as I have seen before. It digitizes VHS, quality will never be that of a Blu-Ray but personally I see no difference in quality between VHS and scanning. Scan their videos takes time but it was worth the money! I recommend!
