But pushed by the enthusiasm almost annoying Assad, he finally opened his first record, that of Merete Lyyngaard, a young woman with a bright political future who disappeared five years ago near a ferry. The case was never resolved, the police had concluded vaguely suicide. If, at the time, this disappearance was in the news, Merete has been forgotten since.
Wrongly, as the reader knows from the beginning that Merete is still alive! She is being held in terrible conditions by a mysterious psychopath!
The question is, do Morck will raise the wire clues five years later, and in time to save Merete Lyyngaard ??
"Mercy" is an excellent thriller.
It incorporates all the classic tricks of the genre - an atypical and unmotivated cop, a victim that everyone believes dead but that still survives a terrible threat, conspiracy ... - and makes it a truly exciting novel.
I especially liked to follow parallel investigation of Carl Morck and detention of Merete Lyyngaard, it gives a gloomy and heavy atmosphere to the set.
The characters, even secondary, are very much alive and well portrayed. Each chapter ends with a voltage rating, and we always want to read again one more.
You certainly do not get bored reading "Mercy!"
