A BlackBerry, who would have thought !?

Well, what can I say ... I am a long time looking for the "right" phone for me. Had Nokia, Samsung, Sony, Motorola; know Symbian, Android, Windows, iOS. The only device I have never had, was the iPhone, although I otherwise all the products of which had (iPod, iMac, iPad).

BlackBerry I had no access at all. At rare that one has seen, were always toys for aging Manager for me.

In principle, I am more of a "game kid", or kept me at least that. There was also a time when I let myself be blinded by functions and gimmicks that you ever tasted, enjoying himself and then never used again over it.

What is important to me in a cell phone / smartphone?
- Communication: I can communicate with it, so phone, SMS, email, messenger services.
- Organiser: so I can my appointments / contacts Manage
- Stability: what reception, cellular performance and sound terms and without arbitrary crashes
- Entertainment: so I can entertain on boring train rides sometimes
- Navigation: so you do not completely "in a fix" in places where you are not familiar is
- Duration: the one sometimes something may work with the device without looking at the day 2x a socket
- Information: if you need the time to retrieve messages, check the net, looking out a bus / rail connection

What is less important to me?
- Social Networking: Facebook, Twitter and Co are shunned by me largely
- Camera: nice if she makes snapshots and video recording, larger claims I would not at all.
- Pocket cinema, Playstation, giant screens, I have dreamed, and now realized that I do not need that.
- Fitness bracelets and other "wearables", so Google and the intelligence services always know where I am, what I do and how I live healthy (or unhealthy?).

It took a long time and a lot of trying and "in-oneself go" requires, until I could assign this / my needs properly. I also had before OS10 no contact with BlackBerry, so I can about the advantages / disadvantages compared to old systems not say anything and I miss a trackpad therefore not really.

What do you like:
+ I think OS 10 very successful. Intuitive, easy to use and still function formidable.
+ BlackBerry Hub is really a great facility, very functional, but even quickly become confusing if too many synchronized accounts. After last update there were also there improvements (Priority Hub, ...)
+ The build quality is great, the stainless steel frame, the back, everything is processed stable and solid
+ Although the hardware is not quite "up to date", it is well matched to the software. At least native applications run fast and smooth, true multitasking is possible, the system runs absolutely smoothly
+ The battery life convinced I'll be so lush over one day, I do not expect more. And there even were still reserves.
+ WLAN a, NFC, LTE, BT, HDMI, Miracast, purely by radio all modern standards in it, it should hardly be a device with which you can not pair your device and transfer data.
+ BlackBerry Link is software for the PC, which allows you to easily exchange data between smartphone and computer. Also backups and software updates can be run over here
+ The sound when playing MP3s through headphones really surprised me, I did not expect so good
+ The keyboard is really awesome. I had also never had a cell phone on, was always supporters of touchscreens, but it's really a relief when typing. I write now even longer texts and emails on the device, where I used to try to keep it short on the road. I prescribe now even very rare, but can not touch "blind";)
+ Remember is one of my first totally underestimated App. Used properly, it is the ultimate organizational tool and is included even in the Hub and the calendar.
+ All-time stable and good WiFi and cellular connections. I had quite a few mobile phones, and can say that I everywhere with the best reception and the cleanest voice quality had the Q10 (at least have my interlocutors sometimes said).
+ The Task Manager can display 8 active Apps, between which you can quickly switches back and forth and exchange data. Ingeniously solved. If you keep the app running, also displays useful information (eg during the next calendar appointment at Remember the next event, or the current weather), a kind of widget, or live tile.
+ The entire operating concept with the wiping movements convinced me. You come from any application quickly in the hub and in the Task Manager and back. Even the night mode and the Quick Settings are are a true help, allow quick change, without having to wade through long menu settings on the device.
+ The display is 3.1 "diagonal 1/3 smaller than usual nowadays, it shows, especially if you had previously larger screens. Nevertheless, this has here quite a high resolution (720x720 pixels) and thus a very sharp display, you needs to websites scroll less than I feared. And it's an AMOLED (you can positively or negatively see), but has a very pleasant light and color profile, but a low brightness (readability in sunlight is hardly possible). Nevertheless outweighs the display for me more light than shadow.
+ Lush memory (16GB + SD card up to 64 GB)
+ Separate HDMI port for connection to TV / Projector
+ I can assign and control rights of the apps separately

Of course there also negative points:
- The camera is really nothing great. Not bad, yes, but not for the "upscale" claims. For my needs and demands on a mobile phone camera but absolutely sufficient
- BlackBerry Maps is crap. Sorry, this to say so, but the in-house navigation worthless. No navigation for pedestrians, no public transportation. Displays partly wrong house numbers, addresses will not, even though I have entered them exactly ends up partly in the wrong zip code areas - the list of deficiencies is long. I have Google Maps installed, install information for the public from the World, but that may not indeed be the goal.
- The BlackBerry World definitely has a few gaps. For me, nothing serious, but it is striking that a few German-language apps are available. Although I have now found everything I needed even if you now and then times have to try a little, but some people would be disappointed by the selection. With the new update, this gap is filled by the Amazon Appstore something ultimate claims are but this still falls short.
- The USB port is suboptimal attached to the side. When you have the unit in a posture in the car if you use the device as a navigation for example, then it's hard to fix it in the cable without the tangled, or the unit "pulls". However, I do not know how BlackBerry that better could have solved, because the bottom is already the speaker and is very good there arbitrarily positioned (but allows a rich sound experience, even if the device is lying flat on the table).
- Anything to BlackBerry 10 is very hungry for data volume. Although I hardly do anything else, I have a lot more data traffic than before

Conclusion:
I realized for me that I look not long movies or many images on the phone / want to watch (although that also goes, but it's not fun in the long run) - surf the Internet (what I do already occasionally) or reading longer texts / books does not really enjoy on the cover display when you have to look like through the keyhole on the side, but the relatively high resolution display and the reading mode of the browser makes up for a lot here. But who really has before to watch movies, play games, read books or surf the excessive power, is here definitely wrong and should switch to other devices. I have after years of searching, but now first found my machine and am satisfied. The Q10 meets my requirements perfectly and meets all the requirements that I have.
