Garibaldi: The force of a destiny (Paperback)

Customer Review

When we appreciate and that we observe the bibliography Max Gallo, we can clearly say it has three-time hangouts: I-The History of France in all its fifteen centuries II Ancient Rome, Italy and III-The Contemporary (nineteenth-twentieth century).

Thus, this biography of Giuseppe Garibaldi (1807-1882) is part of the period "Italian Contemporary" (period he also published "LItalie Mussolini", "Laffaire Ethiopia" and his thesis on the "Contribution the study methods and results of fascist propaganda in the immediate pre-war (1930-1940) ")

Thus, based on a solid knowledge of the history of this country and of this period, he published in 1982 by Fayard "Garibaldi: the force of destiny" who knows a second life -a reissue 30 years post Tallandier in the collection "Texting" (Pocket Books enjoyable to read because wider than the average).

The life of Giuseppe Garibaldi (1807-1882, born in Nice as Max Gallo) is both the story of the republican myth that inflamed Europe (especially in 1848) and minds throughout the nineteenth (in 1789 and myth even 1793). Italian hero, defender of the Republic in France as in Italy, Garibaldi embodies Italian unity which made the nineteenth century (just like Bismarck embodies German unity.)

The Patriot that Garibaldi was won on the instrument creating an Italian nation-state; and at the same time, failed as a Republican since Italy became a Constitutional Monarchy.

NB Regarding Garibaldi, I recommend Max Gallo (Fayard in 1982 and now Collection "Texto") and / or Pierre Milza (Fayard, 2012).
