The LE is the newer of the Sony E-mount lenses. It's mechanically very solid and high quality impression. The results are very good. I can say as an amateur no compromise on image quality. The light intensity is not very impressive but there is no doubt in this price range and for the Sony NEX series except the equivalent TAMRON no alternative. Through the relatively large sensor of NEX you can take the ISO setting (sometimes to 6400) go very high without much loss of quality, which one can compensate for the somewhat limited light intensity very well. If you want to use the advertised Sony Hybrid AF, you should sit down with Sony in connection or update the camera. The AF will then probably be faster. But even without the hybrid AF is working satisfactorily. Very nice close-ups are in the zoom range, even without macro function possible - due Ausschittsvergrößerungen are by the large sensor and the high resolution of the NEX cameras possible, so that if you have not quite big Anprüche, can dispense with a macro lens , The price of the lens is high, the Tamron lot cheaper (with a 5 year warranty!). I would therefore like to assign 4.5 points. November 2013. Annoying: to this day there is still no update for the advertised Sony Hybrid AF for this lens. Overall, and especially in low light conditions, the AF is simply too slow. Various contacts (orally, by e-mail) with the Sony service were highly unsatisfactory - I had to see that Sony has no reputation for customer service and rightly so. I have since moved to the Micro Four Thirds System (Lumix, Olympus) and am now fully convinced of these products - and especially of the blazingly fast AF of these brands.
