The Singer 8280 is a simple mechanical sewing machine with just a few stitches. Priced at less than 100 euros, the expectations of quality of materials and workmanship were not very high (in my case, "Made in Vietnam"). Here, however, surprised the machine with amazing sound metal structure under the plastic cover and decent processing (called "reference" is used here an ancient "Veritas" my mother from the GDR era, the years had experienced intense use). The durability / precision of Singer 8280 for a long time is probably another thing, here are higher quality and significantly more expensive machines (sewing machines), of course, give a much better picture.
For me as an absolute beginner and man on top of that but there were absolutely no problems in the first time operation (Install, connect, winding yarn and in's "boat" began, threading the needle thread, ready for the first test seam). Point deduction can be found here but because the packed in a plastic bag, extensive accessories including sewing machine oil was soaked in this very simply because halt any such a little Vietnamese (hopefully not a child) had the oil bottle is not turned off properly.
But with plenty of paper towels to let the back reasonably clean, just was just no more oil in the bottle it left where it really belongs to and from time nähmlich to the mechanics of Nähmschine.
The Nähmschine himself sews good (good sewing assuming!) My first reduction actions ran itself very well. The engine can be metered easily and runs nice and quiet, all controls provide solid quality.
