My first thought was: Oh no, now begins my beloved Van Morrison also with this vice to want to revive old songs, because he can think of nothing new !? But far from it, because this album has become an absolute Burner and almost every song a highlight. Van Morrison has become every song old friends into the studio to sing with them in a duet. But he has not necessarily his best-known songs, like many expected determines uses for it, but the a little less known, but no less great. And so the protagonists sing and play through a superb repertoire and give all the songs a new garment. The musicians here earn special praise because they play as always on Van Morrison albums in great form, especially Chris White on sax stabs again and again produced positive. That it does not just have the easy duet partner of an outstanding and always dominant singers like Van Morrison, it is now time in order to survive, it is clear, but most succeed in very good to excellent. Some lose but high house and go literally under. But first the positives: The very first song "Some Peace Of Mind" with the late unfortunately recently Bobby Womack is a wonderful introduction to the world of music of Van Morrison. And so it goes merrily on with Mavis Staples, George Benson, PJ Proby, Mick Hucknall, Natalie Cole, Georgie Fame, Shana Morrison, Chris Farlowe and Taj Mahal are my favorites and what the offer here along with Van, is just fantastic. All versions with aforementioned singers / inside are not necessarily better than the original versions, but the slightly different timbres ensure that they do gain considerably in additional substance. So there is no dull moment, although you already hundreds of times has heard the songs. As I said, do all mentioned their super thing and yet I want you allow me a highlight, especially as I would have expected that just he never: Mick Hucknall sing on "Streets Of Arklow" as if it were his life and is Van Morrison absolutely equal. Congratulations Mick! Taj Mahal also provides in the last song a real duel of votes with Van that it remains almost breathless. And it really made them fun, you can hear the laughter of Van Morrison at the end of the song, which is measured by his standards even as a veritable emotional outburst! And so they end an atmospheric, varied and outstanding album that giert only too happy to press the repeat button. The rest of the songs are also class and beyond any doubt, only the respective duet partners are sung by Van Morrison in land and remain easy to pale next to Van and so can add nothing new taxes. PS Van Morrison has just signed a new contract and gets to his next solo album and we are in anticipation.
