The bottom line first: Can recommend the screen in the price segment aufjedenfall, really a high-end IPS panel and for normal claims optimally suited. Those looking for a TN panel, which should take at least one with 120/144 Hz but then, at IPS panels there following alternative:
LG Flatron IPS 235
or
Iiyama ProLite XB2483HSU with AMVA + - Panel.
I've looked long for a screen and I read a lot of professional reviews, application to see the screen in the areas of photo editing (Amateur), Office and gaming (casual). why I decided ultimately for the Dell and will keep this also I would like to describe briefly the following:
For evaluation I will mention several points which I share as follows:
Design / optics / processing / assembly / Equipment / Ergonomics: 4.5 / 5
Of course, this is also a matter of taste pers, but I like the simple and sleek style very well -. Especially when compared with the models of the company Eizo which also produce good screens on the same level, but represent a completely different style. The screen is solid and stands firmly and securely, no wobbles noticeably. The only drawback that I noticed, the touch buttons for configuration and turning on / off are not very sensitive and you have to press felt, so more like buttons, this is the screen for something. The installation was very easy and within 5 minutes is the screen, only the equipment is sized a bit sparse, since only one DP mini dp cable is with this (besides a USB cable for external devices). Here probably one or the other still an HDMI cable or adapter must entsprechenen retrofitted. On the positive side but it in turn the pivot function and height adjustment, and the cable management: Cables disappear skillfully behind the screen and the screen can be adjusted easily.
Color representation: 5/5
For IPS panels of course a no-brainer, but still the brilliant colors will remain unmentioned. grade in the price range you can actually nothing bessereres catch, especially any TN panels lose the direct comparison. Here the Dell displays its full qualities, the font is very legible, the colors are saturated and white is really white. About a function, also allow different modes such as multimedia, gaming, etc. adjust the color calibration of factory but already designate as already succeeded.
Applications: 4.5 / 5
In the field office perfectly, even for image editing very well suited to half a point deduction is available for prof in amateur field. Gaming and prof. Image processing, since the 144 Hz monitors or WQHD - screens are currently the measure of all things. Still, gamers should not be deterred by the 8ms even shooter and racing games are displayed smoothly and look good.
Problems / Reviews: * judgmental *
Here I would like to address the other reviews that we read often and with whom I have dealt a lot:
I have in my screen neither pixel defect nor may notice streaking, so I am not concerned here. That there are always times again Monday models, I would not rule out also. Halos are occasionally occur, I myself have a can account for the lower left corner in the test (at night with black frame), the operation is not to identify and justify to me why no penalty because this is a shortcoming of IPS technology ansich.
Then there's this thing with the NVIDIA graphics cards, which concerns me too: Nvidia cards often do not recognize the screen as a PC monitor, but only as a TV screen, and then enter accordingly less color than would actually be possible. This can be by means of some clicks in the Driver menu or software but to be regulated accordingly (is really quite simple, one finds much to Google ;-)). This problem occurred with me also, but only with the HDMI connection. The connection via DisplayPort is properly regarded me as a PC monitor, so I can be satisfied here (GTX 770 from MSI I use.)
