The anticipation of the TDK "TREK FLEX" What do you mean always, was great. But I imagined him more compact, he has the size of JBL Charge 2 costs, although slightly less, but I thought there would also comparable punch out, the TDK A34 is indeed a very solid speaker. Unfortunately, the TREK FLEX sounds rather modest, though it sounds more voluminous than JBL Flip, UE Mini Boom and some other horns, but what TDK has thought at the heights ... The speaker sounds extremely shrill, treble act resonantly. The sound is relatively indirectly, namely TDK promises 360 °, which is due thereof, since the two chassis emit somewhere in the interior to the side and the sound is then reflected only on an acoustic lens to the outside. The result is more than used to ... The sound has a certain space, but you get the feeling the speaker playing back, the middle range is below, along with the glaring heights everything will kaputgemacht. In addition, the bass simply not making enough pressure so that this all sounds convincing. Although the manufacturer of psychoacoustic algorithm "MaxxBass" is used for bass support (just like the Denon Envaya Mini), so the effect on TDK is obviously completely on attack, because in certain pieces can already perceive artifacts in the bass range, which as a distortion sound, which, however, regardless of volume. A Denon Envaya Mini, perhaps half that sounds distinctly adult, playing even louder and the TDK although the Denon is repeatedly criticized due to weak batteries, so I do not in my comparison where I always have both heard parallel rather received much while the Denon has still continued to play a few hours. In retrospect, I have found that the TDK but somewhat better sound especially at lower volume if the volume is placed directly on the speakers at maximum and instead runtergeregelt at setter. If done the other way around, the sound lacks bass, the assertiveness. Therefore the tip to all who flirt with the TDK: Always ask to maximum, and then make up the player down / up.
The TDK TREK FLEX is not completely hopeless, but sonically it convinces so really no point. It does not make any fun with it to listen to music, Outdoor is simply too little bass, so that the sound can unfold even there, and loud enough, he is not on top of that. Nice is of course that it is so robust, promised even impact resistance, in addition to splash protection, etc. But if I want to have good sound on the go, I'd rather have something else.
