Thanks to its powerful processor Amlogic S812 (architecture 4 cores running at 2 GHz), and its Mali graphics processor cores 450-8, this small box easily handles HD streams and even ultra-HD (4K)
The box runs Android 4.4.2 (KitKat), and therefore have the same user interface as your tablet or Android smartphone, with a default home screen suitable for use on a non-touch TV.
Installation is super simple:
- Connect the power supply;
- Connect to your TV with the HDMI cable (supplied).
.. And that's it!
At first start, you'll just get the key to your WiFi network to connect to the Internet.
Accuracy on WiFi: the connection is stable and offers a good rate.
XBMC 13.1 Gotham is pre-installed, and runs like a fish in water: the navigation is fluid, and access to all your media is very simple, your files are locally on an external hard drive connected via USB (3.0) on a NAS or on the cloud.
I have a 1080p HD screen, so I have no videos in 4K files, it would be meaningless. I can not say that the donations system restores the 4K stream. However, for HD 1080p, this bed without DivX HD box problem as * .mkv very heavy, not properly restored by the old PC that I used as a media center.
Of course, the box allows you to play Netflix stream, surf the internet, and you have access to Google Playstore to download games or additional applications. Beware though, a number of Android games lose their interest on a television screen by definition non-touch.
A final word on the remote control: I did not even out of the box!
I highly recommend buying a keyboard / mouse special media center: we find from 15 that work very well. At Logitech, the DiNovo Mini is attractive but sometimes capricious, especially overly expensive.
In conclusion: a Media Center HD Android less than 100 euros, and that works, it exists.
