At first I sat down at the computer and have the device registers and the updates are downloaded. Since there was a lot to load I was good 2-3 hours on the computer and waited. As far as I've noticed it was the purchase of software version of 5/2012 and cycling maps and firmware updates have now been currently downloaded and installed from the web. That went smoothly.
Addendum 6:11:12 -> After I updated the device about 14 days ago new updates for the device are already available. As will be well taken care of good drum. Very good!
After I am worn to a small created in Bike Maps route around my site. First, a little 7km short distance by bike Profile to a quarry with very little forest roads.
I have no MTB but would like if possible to stay away from the wheel of roads and paved bike paths. Therefore, I have chosen this profile. I have no personal experience how the routing behaves when I enter City Bike or one of the other possible profiles. Anyway, I was wondering that this NAVI actually knows these small forest trails, which was an AHA experience. What I noticed is this negative Navi always lags a step of actually traveled route. I find that very unfortunate. This will be fixed in an update something I'd like to think, however, there were some updates and the problem persists. That makes me suspicious. Sure, you can see there what the Navi says on the map, it is for me still angry because no one is bent, the arrow will only be on the Navi (the yes to represent the driver) updated.
In turns, the lonely and that's to take place solely not an issue, but in a confined space only left, then right, then left again to take place as Ex in ways - I bet the one then stands stupid. That's annoying.
Addendum 06:11:12 -> You can avoid this "problem" by keeping the marked route on the map in view and mind.
TOUR Option
What did not work out with me and I do not know why: The tour option does not work with me. This option is intended to enable a train. Let's say we want the evening still like to drive 1 or 2 hours.
Or you want just once again just 20km from-cycle, or even lose a certain number of calories. Then the TOUR Mode provides noisy description the opportunity to address all this.
According to the description (I'm here on the timing, a) is the so run that you typed on tour -> then taps on TIME -> let's say 1 hour typing ->, then taps on GO. Now the Navi should a tour put together the routes long one an hour through the environment around then can arrive safely and on time at home. In this function I was happy almost most, but it does not work (for me) !. After I typed on Go, the map appears with no route, it is also not created if I wait any longer. The lower selection bar in the Go etc stands, is completely grayed out can not be selected. Maybe someone can help me what am I doing wrong here !? But according to instructions I'm doing everything right. Have now written also the support. Will report when there is something new.
Addendum 06.11.12-> had imagined it differently but know now how it works: Ex Tour distance -> If I want to drive 20km I type in the selected radius dfer map to a point in the region of which I make my möchte- trip like> the route there is calculated. I click on the map to continue as long as I've 10km remaining display -> then I type for the return journey (round trip) to the start flag and the Teasi routes back to the starting point. Perfect! That works well now.
Beeps
What disappoints me is that the beep of a forthcoming shortly turning instruction clearly make / draw attention to for me is not audible. He is unfortunately in the volume is not adjustable and too quiet. It seems to me as if it were a frequency close to the dog whistle. A buzzing noise. Either my hearing is damaged in this frequency or that is total crap. I would for a bicycle Navi want the verge of turning a clear signal my attention on the nature of the Navi directs, then I grasp immediately where it should go the same, and then can devote myself to nature again. Even without speech would be feasible to present the above distinct beeps also left / right over the clay. Why has still made no manufacturer remains a mystery to me. Is not it though. And when TEASI much worse - I hear the sound unreliable. And I have to write that I'm not driven by a downtown but in a totally peaceful wooded area. Addendum 06.11.12-> According to the request Arrival Support is a volume change per update also not feasible. Meanwhile it goes with me but very good. Clear skies at night driving now in the fall / winter I recognize the activity of Teasi by the brighter are the screen that he wants me to tell what. DISPLAY
Today an overcast sky was my "test heaven". Every now and then the sun came out and I was able to imagine what many felt when they wrote negatively about the reflective display. However, I was through the sometimes violent criticism in this regard but then surprised that it is not soooo bad now. The handlebar mount is great and has very easy to turn away a tiltable ball head solution to the Navi from the sun.
Other Navi manufacturers have their problems with the readability of your display in direct sunlight.
Addendum 06.11.12-> Yes, the display is the Teasi the biggest criticism, with direct exposure to sunshine, it is annoying as you hardly recognize what. At least the bracket has a ball head so you can Teasi tend slightly and twist so that one again recognizes what.
CONCLUSION
The pluses:
Dissolved + Large Display / fine
+ Handlebar mount Robust and holds bombproof by provided Clickfix bracket. Navi can be beautiful by ball-joint position on the handlebar (unscrew also from the sun)
+ Simple menu structure as an advantage rather than limiting
+ Routine as in a car navigation, but just on paths for cyclists and walkers.
+ X3 alternative routes are displayed directly. (Proposal / Short / Quick) class!
Profiles mountain bike, city bike, racing bike, hiking. (I've only used MTB-Supi)
+ Easy Track record
+ Comprehensive Customizable Trip Computer
+ Splash-proof (has several rides in the rain perfectly survived)
+ Light and handy
+ Automatic re-routing if you leave the indicated route. (As in the car)
+ Descendants externally planned tracks (Bikemap, komoot etc) super easy and accurate possible (with instructions).
The negative:
- Display legibility is not ideal in the sun. Attempts soon an anti-glare film. The ball end of the Klickfix mounting can the Teasi but nice twist in all directions and thus bring out of the sun in a more readable position.
- To make the advisory shortly before-turn actions attention to that fact that here no matter what route Relevant is considered, is too low. Volume slider in the Sound menu, there are not just on / off. A few decibels louder and I would be satisfied.
- No change of batteries / accumulators used only permanently installed battery. I doubt that the battery holds 10-12h. I'll go more out of 6-8h. That is my impression. For my tours that was good enough. According Arrival Support can let change a battery defect the battery for 30 including VAT. This relaxes me anyway as far as the non-removable battery in Teasi.
- The manufacturer indeed used the free OSM maps, but brings them in an in-house format on Teasi. End-user adjustments are not possible. To me it would be enough, for example only Bundeslandabdeckende cards to install. That would certainly speed the internal speed Teasi continue or allow more detailed map content. Meanwhile, I can not find the bad, because I can see that go along directly with OSM updates the Teasi people and provide an update.
- Charging socket / PC connection (mini USB) under the cover. The back cover of Teasi must be unscrewed to connect to load or with the PC So every time. I really wonder here with my Dremel to mill a recess into the holder so I do not have to repeatedly unscrew the rear of the load.
Final words:
The Teasi is not perfect, not quite, but on a damn good way to it!
I am curious how the manufacturer with further firmware updates and system maintenance hires per se.
Potential for there, but for the first litter of a bike navigation system the people of A-Rival have well employed.
It may be that there are better units, but in the price range does NOT guarantee! I tried some and for me there is nothing comparable to the price. Even devices had the 50-100 cost more then other negative sides at the end weighed worse than that of Teasi.
SUPPLEMENTARY 6:11:12
I now can make more experience with the device and am still thrilled.
Several rides in the rain at some pouring rain did not hurt the TEASI. (Super)
Devices from other manufacturers such as VDO GP7, Dakota 10 and 30 Etrex have for me in detail already can cite advantages over the Teasi, in the overall standings but I am still best served by Teasi. The biggest shortcoming of Teasi is and remains for me the screen readability in bright sunlight and a little too quiet advisory tones.
Ultimately, the handling is easy but something of that just makes it fun.
The unit is available now starting at 125, I should like to call anyone of you an alternative device which is well suited to cyclists as the Teasi and less than 250 euros. I know none!
