After seeing various comparative tests and I set on this model, 50-inch because that is the maximum size of my TV stand (52 inches to be precise).
Start with the weaknesses of this television. The first, I think, is power consumption. Indeed like all plasmas TVs it consumes more energy than LCD or LED TV of the same size. It is also heavier, about 40Kg. Other small black dot, the image is darker than LCD or LED TV, it's normal plasma and good movies it looks in the dark. If like me you have a TV stand that includes a backlight television (here a neon that runs behind the screen) this error is even less important. The screen is sensitive to glare, more than the LCD and LED but less than cathode televisions, this television is not to be placed in an angle (given the size it would be complicated) but directly in the axis of the workpiece (with the windows closed and artificial light source behind it is perfect, tested with a TV stand Jahnke SL 2000). The remote control is far from being a success, it is basic and without any concern for the design, it is still possible to remotely control TV with Wifi mobile phone (tested and validated with a HTC Desire HD). The menus are a worrying austerity but it's not really a big problem. Last big downside is the 3D that is a failure, but it is not unique to this TV that meets all the standard requirements and even offers what seems the best 3D market. That's the concept itself is a failure in my opinion, and I have not seen anything compelling in 3D. Everyone tells me that what is the most successful 3D is the Haribo advertising. Maybe it will make me change my mind but until I have yet to see convincing 3D image, or on this TV or another. In short this is a technology that is far from mature. Note (still) two active glasses are supplied with.
Now the good point is the image. No doubt, we have here a very upscale tile designed for movie lovers. As is the trend now the screen displays a 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080 non-interlaced) with 600 Hertz. The viewing angles are good, again it is the technological choice of plasma that makes it and can watch television, even if we are not in front (but really, who watches his movies out?). The screen also provides, in THX or professional mode, colorimetric settings, gamma correction and correct brightness. For TV for an amateur public film is what it takes. It changes the television that gives the impression of watching human tomatoes instead of the characters so much red are saturated. The advantages of plasma, which can make it really dark blacks and contrasting colors without saturating the image, are fully exploited. Black on "The Dark Knight" are of great depth and never come out dull (I expect to see scenes in silhouette to really be able to enjoy this TV), the pastel colors of the scene in Africa of "Casino Royale "They come out perfectly contrasted and finesse. The "600 Hz" ensure a perfectly smooth image even in fast scenes, such action scenes in "Terminator: Renaissance" stand perfectly. When blur effects are also volunteers in the springs correctly display (carnival scene in "Ghost in the Shell 2"). Even scenes with color orgies (opera "Farinelli it Castrato") are impeccable. I have not tested this black and white television, I'll do it with I think "MacBeth" Welles and I do not expect to be disappointed.
The sound is more than adequate for a TV. Generally TVs have a terrible sound, but it gets away with the honors. While it lacks power and is unable to sound in a space properly due to lack of power, but as long as we remain within reasonable volumes it out good sound, for example the scene or Farinelli performs "Casa Sposa" Handel n has never been so beautiful. Where the lack of speakers potato is felt is on electric sounds, tested since a dematerialized file with "Aurora Borealis" Celldweller (rock / industrial electro) television fall far from what is needed saturated serious. Good at the same time is a TV and you do not ask him to make the stereo. If you want to take earful minimum rest today, the soundbar.
"Extras" are decent but far from being a strong selling point, TV is easy to connect to a home network. The MAC address is very easy to obtain if you filter it, it's a good point. You can access Youtube, Skype (I have not tested, the webcam is optional it is a pity) and rent movies. Rented movies are not in HD, it would be normal difficult to pass over a network connection, and the quality is acceptable (but not great). A tad below DVDs to be precise. The service works properly, no cut and service acceptable but not if it ergonomic. Maybe one day, when the optical fiber will be more widespread, it will be possible to rent HD movies dematerialized. The connection is complete, RAS, no problems connected to anything. I expect to test a USB hub to increase the connection possibilities to validate the use of USB in good quantity.
The design is simple, if you have a TV stand that already has personality is perfect. If this did not count on television to dress up a room. The packaging is spartan, we see that the manufacturer to the point with this television.
I give 5/5 for this TV because it fits perfectly into my specifications, which was to make an image to the colors right, with strong contrasts and with really black and not gray dark blacks. I am tempted to take away half a point because of his feeble but "it remains even when what is done best on TV and it is a problem that all manufacturers (and compared to other Panasonic offers are in brilliantly pulls). Also it is unpleasant that the webcam to take advantage of the Skype application is optional, but let's be frank I do not serve me anyway.
