Since the 60-inch model has a different technique than the smaller versions, you might find it important not to compare with the smaller variants.
Summary: Anyone who so a 4-5 years older TV replaced (in my case, a four and a half years old 46er Sony) will perceive significant improvements in picture and sound. The only restriction is the reflective display, see below
History: reason for buying at all: I have my family convinced that a big TV would increase viewing enjoyment. Why the LG 60LA7408? Am not a TV freak, but a few weeks occupied myself with TVs. Am in the process somehow come from Samsung to LG and then got stuck there, z. B. for the allegedly blickwinkelstabileren panels from LG, the highly reflective Ultra Clear Panel of Samsung (we have partly a terrace window opposite the TV space), the me pleasant passive 3D technology, etc. stand for a long time in front of me to buy the LG 60LA6208, but then thought, the 7408 has the better optics, thin and read that he technically something the 6208 to be superior. Above all is probably the sound better. The 6208 has me visually also not like really in the store. From a certain price and a certain size me the look is not completely unimportant.
So now in detail to
- Optics: processed right high because in addition to the front panel no plastic. Also, the back is made of metal. Last year's series of LG (LM) has me visually allersdings like even better, but was for alleged Bewegungsunschärfen no alternative. Nevertheless: We hang it on the wall - schööön he looks. But !!! Annoying: We have a flat wall mount and the TV is indicated with a thickness of approximately 6 cm. Compared to all other brands but have the LG TVs down significantly thicker speakers, so the TV is not nice snug against the wall, but more than 8 cm protruding. Something annoying. Also: He reflects. Now you get (I think except from Toshiba) is no longer the dull television from a few years ago. Meanwhile, the spiegen all, and the LG I have seen described as "semi-dull" in the net. For the window in the back still too much: In broad daylight it interferes significantly. But it is just in favor of the brilliance of the image, and in the evening we went through favorable arrangement of the lights in the room hardly annoying light. Who are his lamps unfavorable is the view.
- Picture: Spent some time in electronics stores, but what are you going to compare? No one knows how much effort the staff made in setting. Often, the TVs also have select a special setting for the exhibition, the Saturn and Co.. Except for reflection and optics can image technically compare anything. So have prior descriptions of previous buyers search the Internet, which also sounded very positive. And, see above, in comparison with the old TV the picture is initially genial. Clearly, much smoother movements. Have read a lot about Clouding, banding and the DSE 60LA7408 and probably caught a decent, but not a perfect panel. Looked at youtube by Pixel errors and DSE / Clouding test films, and it seemed ok. No dead pixels, DSE (Dirty screen effect) perceptible, but not very strong (had seen in the store, that almost all LEDs at football pans this phenomenon that one sees Shady, as if the screen is dirty). Also no vertical stripes, which are well known as "banding" (banding is sometimes the unclean gradient represented in stripes, everything ok with me). But then! Sat yesterday about 45 degrees and about 6 - 8 meters at the dining room table, looked football and ZACK! - Vertical about 5-7 cm thick slices in center and the right half. Is much less when you turn comes closer, and loses itself in the above-described "DSE". So: Not perfect, but also no reason to redeem, because the risk of poorer device is too large for a "pretty good" to me.
Flashlight effect: Despite alleged "full LED" (albeit with larger diodes as in nano-LEDs) easily, but really easy to be seen about 2 cm on the right speaker. The rest is largely evenly lit, even with different colors or white (Pixel fault movie on youtube). Movements with Truemotion significantly better than without, you see a news ticker or movie credits. However form at all about "soft" clearly visible artifacts in some movements, and on the other hand, I can see no difference to the higher settings. Even when no football or tennis. Very slight tail effects, or rather blurs the moment of ball rotation. Bin otherwise happy and as I said, significant improvements. Whether manage other 100Hz Basic Panels with their motion smoothing better: I do not know, think the average user will hardly notice differences.
I saw a movie credits rightmost that different settings left actually darken the black image: Local Dimming. Otherwise, I can perceive the barely. Even when playing with different settings I use hardly any changes true. Did it therefore simply left out "high", but is somehow not a big hit. Do not understand why filmstrip not really darkened, but only "dimly lit" are. Las then somewhere, LG-local-dimming would be divided only in a few vertical zones that are dimmed separately and depending on the image. Strange that. Otherwise, I try brightness and Co. now here, now there around still. Have certainly not found the final image setting. Black level: re better than before, and for me as a "normal gazers", not a freak, quite well.
Alas! I could notice it more. I do not watch over the built-in tuner, but a sky-receiver as a player and sometimes a Sambung BluRay home theater complete system DVDs and Blurays. Again, significantly better picture than before. That's beautiful!
-3D: I do not passively significantly more comfortable than active Shutterbrillengeflimmer. However there are moving combs, also significantly depending on film. But would not eh 3D Freak, and for occasional movies, if you ever feel like it has, it's good. Must only again stress that here 60 inches already a must (we are sitting 3-4 feet away), with smaller TVs I can hardly imagine good effects.
- Tone: If faulted everywhere. I find him - also due to the small, but a little perceptible subwoofer on the back) not bad. "Clear Voice 2", and the sound is fully in order. For movies, the home theater system is set halt.
- Price: Compared to other 60 inchers pretty neat, so good for the price-performance ratio. However, after one and a half months decent price decline since today (apparently there were a couple for 1,600) again significantly cheaper. And the Amazon offer was good!
- Other: I thought that 4.5 stars actually would subjectively reasonable for me, thinking what you click on, 4 or 5? But then I remembered the following: The 60LA7408 has a) no light sensor. Although I put nothing in the evening after, but that's actually modern TVs to be able to automatically darken or lighten a little sunlight. The four-year-old Sony was able to - and almost every other TV! And b) no automatic control signal input: Each manually change if I change from the receiver to BluRay player. Only wait until the Sky receiver is fully ramped up, only then do the 60LA7408, otherwise it indicates an error in the device recognition. You get used to it though, but ... up-to-date ??? So: 4/5. Feierabend.
Edit: WLAN! Use Smart TV to date little, so far almost exclusively the above youtube test films, two software updates and a few 3D test films from the menu ... But: displayed Although the router in space is directly behind the TV, a high signal strength will and other wireless devices such as netbook, ipad and smart phones work in the same room super, bucking YouTube films about the Lg very often ... not soo good ... And: The "User's Guide", which you call up on your TV can not explain all the terms. As a normal user you are but overwhelmed with quite a few concepts of extensive configuration options and will have googled tedious.
