I tested the TV (LG 55LM660S) 5 weeks extensively and then still a gesture of goodwill towards a more expensive Philips Model (55pfl7007k) exchanged. The whys and wherefores, I would like to explain as a guide:
Basically:
So far, Samsung LCD 40, PS3, Sky HD Receiver (SAT), HTPC wired all over HDMI. Therefore, please note that I can not say anything about the built-in tuner of the LGs and the TV use only, so to speak as a screen.
Style:
The TV looks really great. The thin frame makes a real head turner and stands directly unpack. The Stand was just my girlfriend used to, but falls after a few days but then no longer. The new remote control is sometimes a real innovation, sometimes reacts to light; thus belongs more to the table than on the couch ...
Connections:
From the terminals ago I could not find anything negative. See also the technical description, everything available.
Sound:
Here I personally have a small gripe. Depending on a kind of mission vibrate the device when bass was observed. However, this I was able to fix the sound settings. Overall, however, as to be expected no world-shaking sound, but you should not expect from the boxes in such a flat television also.
Picture:
The TV picture is really great in HD receiver / Bluray / PS3 / HTPC. High-resolution content is beautifully reproduced. Depending on the settings in the most diverse ways for me but consistently very good. For me personally, not high-resolution content is displayed accordingly poor, that is due to the size and my seat distance (about 4.50) then the picture looks not nice. This is my opinion, but not on TV, but also brings the dissolution of the material and size of the TV with him. 3D is the first moment also very very good. The lightweight glasses have convinced me directly, the 3D effect comes across well. But continues to be a matter of taste. Definitely I can testify but due to the new Philips that I do not recognize the difference betw. Shutter (full HD resolution) and polarizing filter (reduced resolution) in the 3D area.
Now to my criticisms, and the reason for return:
In my view, you have to know exactly how the TV is mainly used. I am crazy about football and therefore very often runs one of Sky Sports HD channels. In football I have it despite many attempts and Internet search failed to find the right settings for the device. Say the ball always had a tail (sometimes more, sometimes less) and the pitch had during fast pan flicker (probably called banding) on. Once seen (so far I have not even counted myself among the discerning seers ...), I could not overlook these weaknesses. Because of these problems I have also contacted the LG Support. This responded very well, sent within 2 days a technician over to check. This then looks at the picture, a little set and unfortunately only able to confirm that these effects "can include". Say, the TV is in accordance with the technical content specified in order. According to the statement of the technician, these effects are sometimes more, sometimes less pronounced (depending on the luck of the draw with the built-in panel). But I could still be happy.
This statement made me then moved to convert the TV. In the higher price segment, these effects now occur almost no longer, therefore I did not regret the exchange. But I must say to the fact that the improvement is visible only in football, everything else looks just as great or not.
Short notice for mirroring: I found the display to be very reflective. Had due to the perpendicular to the image running windows often the shutters close slightly. This is much less the case with my new equipment.
Smart Features:
Here kudos to LG. Especially compared to my Philips calling the program is fast and the menu is very presentable and clearly designet. The recording on the hard disk, I then tested, everything worked properly. Whether you need the features, everyone can decide for themselves.
Well, good decision!
