My initial findings unpacking:
- It is flat and not conical wheels which after the great coffee lovers is a bad point.
- The unit is rather light and I wonder how long it will work. Nothing to do with the build quality of my former "Riviera Bar" costing still more expensive back at the time of purchase. The Krups home is far from the quality of his sad old productions including "Big Berta" was the most representative of its exported products even in the suburbs of Paris from 1914 to 1918.
First use:
- Noise: no more nor less than a mill from another manufacturer.
- Grinding Time: very fast! At least three times faster than my old mill, for against the ground coffee warmer out of the mill and through conical wheels, which makes me fear loss of aroma as on an electric grinder blades (grain crushing that has nothing to do with the grinding) ...
- Difficulty in finding the right grinding adjustment for my espresso machine savèrera finally be maximum possible fine for me (So just a little grinding point of view!).
-Some Difficulties in getting started because the mill does not work if the ground coffee container lid is missing or if the container is properly attached to the bottom of the receptacle. However, it is a good security if we want to avoid to put everywhere.
- Ground coffee a little glue to the container by electrostatic phenomenon but this eventually sarrêter after a few weeks of use and plastic cleaning.
- The shape of the container is very inconvenient to pour the ground coffee into the receptacle of the lever espresso machine: You put all the time to find the hand to minimize losses but this is really not practical.
- The power button is hard and inconvenient. Not feeling of "notch" indicating that it is engaged, the tendency is to push it too, especially if the ground coffee container is not positioned to prevent the setting of the mill road.
Coffee Tasting: (I use for years a coffee beans ordered on the Internet: Paul Dequidt whose gustatory qualities are very aromatic and without any bitterness):
Having put a lot of time finding the most suitable version for clamping ratio / satisfactory rate to 19 bars, I find almost the taste of coffee from my former mill Riviera but I nevertheless feel without too much frustration A slight loss of flavor that seems due to warming too large ground coffee by grinding flat.
CONCLUSION: It is best grinder at this price (approx 50) than a mill that has a tendency to become very hot coffee during milling causing it to lose its flavor, but a conical grinding machine is preferable. The grind can be adapted to be an espresso machine 15 bar but a bit less for a 19 bar like mine for which a finer grind is recommended.
I can not say anything for a machine-type pressure filter Bodum or for coffee filter paper which anyway does not match my taste quality criteria. However, it is certain that the fineness of grind is very inadequate for a Greek or Turkish coffee. The biggest advantage of this device is the rapidity of obtaining ground coffee.
I think keep this mill until his last breath but I will not make her a present and any failure or wear which affects the taste of coffee: he will go in the trash without regret !.
My advice: If you really are a coffee lover, invest in a more serious machine, it will still cost you less than to be taken hostage by a capsule manufacturer to taste soulless, standardized and expensive (hello George !).
