GENEFORT Laurent, French writer, has created over the years a series of novels and short stories describing the universe Omale, a Dyson sphere located about 150 million kilometers from the sun, consisting of habitable zones containing hundreds of times the size of our good old Earth (obviously this sphere is very great!) ... As we learn throughout the three novels and seven new presented in these two volumes FolioSF to compilatoire will (and recovery editorial of two volumes Denoël Ink Moons published in formats means). Chiles and humans as Hodgqins (3 physically very different humanoid races, but may live in the same terrestrial environment) will find them trapped by chance (or after a large drawing they ignore) after being used, each of their side in their corner of the universe, a gate array of stars they have not invented. We do not use the tools of large safely and so that's three races who knew nothing of their existence forced to live together in the same place whereas until now they were convinced of being the only form of evolved life ! The idea is ambitious and joined a hobby novelist who has defended a thesis on the subject of books universe, which proves that it is not running in the adventure by chance or without ambition. Composed of a novel, seven new, a glossary and a brief foreword, this tome 2 me more convinced that the first volume published composed for his share of two novels. "The holy of Omale wall" was formed on the principle of the scientific quest for an expedition composed of representatives of the three races cohabiting Omale on the edge of land in an area known for fanatical humans live for over a thousand years completely cut off the rest of other civilizations. Or millions of human leave this zone by speaking of an ongoing Apocalypse will détrure Omale. Story exploratory and discovery of new territories, the novel appeals to the imagination of the author who uses interesting ideas, a lot of imagination and arouses in the reader a multitude of mental images with the quality of his descriptions geographical, social or historical. Either way, the story is not overly surprising, nor in its purpose or in its conclusion and we touch the limits of an ambitious exercise (describe alien races with their ways of thinking and their specificities, including this novel in a cycle already has a historical timeline without breaking the organization). The result is however very attractive, fun to read, often taking and finely arranged in the end for this novel of 400 pages on nearly 900 of this volume. The following 7 new, originally published in various journals SF, we note the willingness to open doors to different periods in the history of Omale (unexpected arrival on Omale, the rise of religious obscurantism , wars inter breeds, peace, etc.) while offering a few more texts rooted in the discovery of two other individuals alien races and therefore most peculiar or strange behavior ("Arbitration", "Patchworkd"). My preference is for "Aparanta" and especially to "A reed against the wind", poignant story before which any humanist pay some tears. Other more common on the police register as "The case of Rochile" or "Arbitrage" is an essay pushed to its maximum limits in order to make us better understand the culture and thought patterns of Chiles do nevertheless retain some interest. A small mention to "Crossed" following texts to the layout a bit surreal and fragmented with a recipe to simply hilarious conclusion of black humor! In short, a beautiful exercise in imagination and writing proves that Laurent GENEFORT often rubs shoulders with the high level of SF found by editorial usual in Anglo-Saxon authors. If SF is part of your reader interests, no doubt that these two volumes are part already in the big list of books to know. The low price of these two volumes Folio SF being more significant in the case pending undoubtedly a future third volume regoupant not yet published a novel and a knapsack next news to come necessarily.
