Enclosed is a preliminary conclusion after 4 weeks use:
1) Delivery
As is common with other manufacturers the camera comes in a small box with battery, USB charger with cable, EU plug, carrying strap and a short manual. Nikon offers a comprehensive instruction manual for download. There is also the Nikon WMU app to download for iOS and Android, can be downloaded from the camera to mobile devices over the images and the camera can be controlled remotely.
2) equipment, processing, commissioning
In the equipment of the camera I do not go into detail, it can be found in the product description. For me it was important in the first place that the camera does have a lot of zoom, but also compact dimensions. For my taste, the S7000 has just the right size, it fits comfortably in your hand, has a pleasant weight (160 grams incl. Battery) and is (despite Made in China) well made. The button layout is geared to those of other manufacturers, everyone who has ever owned a digital camera should not have any problems here.
In order to put into operation, the battery (700 mAh) must first be inserted, then a memory card should be used, this is not included. The following types of memory cards can be used: SD, SDHC, SDXC. In my case, the battery still had some juice, Nikon recommends a full load on the supplied AC adapter (microUSB). The advantage compared to my old Lumix here is that the battery does not need to be removed but can be loaded into the camera. When fully charged, Nikon promises a battery endurance of about 200 photos, only a rather average value.
If you now start the camera, you will be guided through an installation menu, where you set the language, date, time, etc. - can then be losgelegt.
3) handling, image quality
The Coolpix S7000 is aimed as mentioned in the first place to the casual photographer, focuses therefore on fully automatic image programs. Manual setting of shutter speed and aperture do not exist. The exposure can be just about the exposure compensation to adjust (+/- 2 stops), otherwise each the appropriate scene mode must be selected. After all, can be accessed quickly to frequently used modes thanks to a mode dial on the top. Basically, however, the necessary modes work quite well, only in low light conditions, the S7000 despite tremendous problems. Well Has the image stabilizer, the wobbles significantly reduced by prolonged exposure or higher zoom.
In addition to photos, the S7000 also offers the possibility of full HD videos up to 30 minutes in length aufznehmen. The image quality is also here neat, but I find the stereo sound is not really outstanding - that sounds even much better in some smartphones. Also, the camera has been completely suspended twice during wegspeichern the videos, has so helped only removing the battery.
A nice feature is the WiFi and NFC capabilities. Using App can be transferred and remotely control the camera the images taken by the camera on a iOS or Android device. Certainly not buy che identical for everyone, but quite helpful. For me everything was working fine, although some Vorrezensenten have reported problems.
4) Conclusion
In the highly competitive segment of the super zoom cameras, the Nikon Coolpix S7000 is simple indeed an interesting alternative, is there but surely not have easily beat the competition. Really bad she is not, but offers in all areas of the current retail price of 200 only good average and also makes a few blunders (Battery, image quality in low light conditions, software, sound quality), so I two stars depart in total.
