Looking at the data sheet, the Wiko Wax in the sense something very special, because it other strengths comes as his brothers (eg a powerful quad-core CPU by Nvidia, memory expansion, replaceable battery and especially LTE) for the other page as well as other advantages not on board (for example, dual SIM capabilities, gesture control, automatic switching on and off, profiles) that "a Wiko" so far (almost without exception) were distinguished.
These points I would like to illuminate course precisely during the test report. After all, so much is already betrayed: The price performance ratio, the Wiko has always excelled, is also at Wiko Wax very good!

- From my Wiko Darkside and by many other models of Wiko I 'audio profile' and have used this popular venue. This could be configured under "Settings" and quickly selected using the drop-down menu. This no longer exists at the Wiko Wax. Sure, you can turn the sound off relatively quickly over the volume rocker (by him to Vibrate or zero shuts down)., But really fast is no longer the It is also clear that one can fix after all quite well by widgets.
However, this feature is no longer just supplied innately.
- Also I lack a "LTE only" mode in the network settings, which allows me to leave the smartphone remain despite relatively poor reception in LTE mode having to use instead of the much slower, but it is receiving stronger EDGE. o Internally installed only 4GB memory, of which some are less useful than 2.5GB. This is enough to start with. A memory card is definitely mandatory if you want to use something more than just telephony and SMS / Messenger.
o The famous gesture control is missing as well as NFC. Last was not yet installed in any Wiko device Erstgenanntes but almost standard. By using the gesture control could create screenshots, unlock the phone contact, contacts who call are displayed on the screen by simply holding the device to your ear, the phone mute by turning over, etc., etc..! o By using plastic, the device is very easy. While it is well made, but seems not to such a high quality as other Wiko devices (Highway, Stairway, Darkside, Getaway). + The built GPS is great. It is found quickly and is very accurate. This is really fun!
+ The NVIDIA Tegra 4i quad-core processor with 1.7 GHz per core, the Wiko has installed the first company in a smartphone, has a whole lot of power. Processing / Design
If you are used to from their own 5.7 inch device and everything else goes to> 5 inches, you are pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the 4.7 inches can be in your hand or pocket when Wiko Wax. This feeling is supported by a weight of only 119 grams. Nice and light, this unit, a feeling that on the other hand also leads but that it is just not quite as high feels like his colleagues (eg, the Dark Night), which rely on Aluelemente or glass.
Altogether that makes nothing but because the device is well made despite plastic materials and no creaks with replaceable battery cover or really stand out for large gaps. No, we have a compact, lightweight piece of smartphone in hand.

Visually, the Wiko Wax is clearly inspired by the HTC One with his down-contrasting color to the main color of the device matching part and silver border. The reverse, ie the battery cover is kept in the same color as the bottom part just mentioned, that is white / silver, black, red or turquoise, held.
Speakers on front and back are embedded into the device, only the back-up-centrally mounted camera lens protrudes a tiny piece so that the device is not very evenly seated on the table.

With its 1.7GHz quad core processor from Nvidia, the Wax masters any given task with ease. In AntutuX benchmark it comes, for example, more than 26,000 points and is thus on a par with the Galaxy S4. In Quadrant benchmark it comes to over 9000 points. Who needs more values of benchmarks, like let you know. It remains that the real performance, that is, those really in the daily use of the device displays in the setting "maximum power" is really outstanding. All lavish games that I've tried, all comprehensive Apps mastered the instrument. And the normal menu speed with which even top devices, such as Samsung or LG have S4 G3 problems is absolutely smooth. There is no stuttering, no pauses.
It is exciting but to look more closely at the new mode "Power Save". Here Wiko allows the user the choice to turn down the processor, ie to use fewer cores and / or to cap the maximum frequency, but also to limit to a maximum of 30FPS Apps. These settings do have a major impact on performance and battery life. If you compare the battery life at maximum power with the restrikivsten in power saving measure, you may find that they almost doubled. Example: If you leave the unit to full power run the Battery test, considers it a bit more than 2.5 hours. In complex games like Asphalt 8 the gaming experience is so well within 3 - 3.5 hours past. Leaving the same test but in mode "Conserving Battery Power" run, to get to almost 5 hours to the device switches off. Asphalt 8 would be so safe around six hours to play. However, the game itself does not then so much fun because it has stopped running completely smoothly and is limited to 30FPS. But simpler games are still fun.
What was, however, interestingly became clear that the slider in the middle, so to "compensate" fairly good performance value in games and apps and brings a great runtime at full load. Here the test brings namely almost 4.5 hours out to empty If the battery.
Benchmarks with "compensation" or "Save" will be AntutuX then the way in the range of 14,000 or 12,000 points, so quite yet in areas of middle-class smartphones.
So whoever wants to use most effectively the device, it turns on "save" or even better "balance", benefiting from good to decent pace with everyday tasks and screwed the controller for complex games to "maximize performance" high in case of need.

Wi-Fi b / g / n is on board and sparking a good average through the apartment. The reception is as good as other comparable devices. At all critical points in the apartment the wax holding his wireless receiver and does its job well.

The biggest, newest and most interesting points is of course the built-in LTE: My T-Mobile card was throttled unfortunately at 7.2Mbit / s, so that the Wiko Wax just laughed and the pointer in Speedtest brought all the way, but I switched Vodafone kindly also LTE-free and so I can here, after all, to surf 42,2Mbit / s. All photos were created with the default settings and using the autofocus. Especially with good and average light conditions makes the main camera really good pictures for a smartphone. In low light, there is the classic fast noise.
The settings of the camera are easily accessible, it is enough a long press on the display when the cam is activated. A fine thing. Even though at the beginning some getting used to, because you quickly select things that you wanted to look at first.

Rarely I found it so hard to evaluate this device. And for this reason that so few quasi-unique selling points of Wiko omitted, the previous test devices have been from the start look good.
