Cute little device with liquid service

In the photos, a size comparison is missing. The device is less than "normal", it is smaller than a DIN A4 sheet.
It has saved the display while reducing power consumption compared to its predecessor Sony BDP-S4100.
For me, a player / streaming client does not need a (tiny) display. The TV is switched on anyway.
The power supply is not in the case. It is a small external power supply here.
The remote control has no 10-key more, but I do not need.
The operation of the device is working smoothly.
Working with a TV from another manufacturer via HDMI-CEC works well. I can operate the basic functions of the Sony player with the Philips TV remote control.

The design of the small device is interesting. On the top of the front triangle acts metallic that looks not bad when it is next to / under the TV.

The drive can be heard, which is not due to the simple enclosure feet. However, it will normally be drowned out by the film sound. Still, this is not perfect for audiophile users who may choose a different price range.

The Sony BDP-S4200 Blu-ray player also controls video on demand services such as Amazon Instant Video, max cathedrals, Tagesschau etc.
Since Sony is sponsor of the Digital Concert Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic, the associated app is equal preinstalled, including trial subscription. Likewise, Amazon Instant Video.

Two firmware updates for the new Sony players already existed. Instantaneous state: M20.R.0116, 05/21/2014
