The hardware uses the operating system quite easily, at least in everyday life. However, limits are set entirely in hardware. So the built-RAM of 1GB is enough just so in order to use Windows 8 with Metro apps. Need more memory applications, the device must quickly on the non-volatile memory, a 32GB SSD outsource (Samsung MBG4GC). The brakes.
The screen whose digitizer supports ten input points is bright and reasonably pleasant to read. The colors are saturated. With 1280x800 pixels the screen 8, however, is not very high resolution. In particular writings appear quickly blurred here. In the current version of the graphics driver has my device from time to time problems also fully implement the rotation of the screen. Often the aspect ratio of the background persists after rotation.
The white high-gloss case feels high-quality. The inset in black DELL logo is a nice contrast. At the upper edge of the case is the power switch, and the headphone jack. On the right side there are the Micro-USB connector, a charging light, the windows key, the speaker rocker, a hole for the microphone, and below a flap behind which an SD card can be inserted. At the bottom edge is a speaker.
As for the sound, the Venue 8 Pro has the headphones clean, in my opinion, balanced and undistorted even in higher volumes of sound which certainly recommends the device for mobile music enjoyment. The graphics performance I have not tested for this review.
The 5MP camera on the back panel makes decent pictures, but also can not work miracles. A flash is missing, as well as an optical image stabilizer. Thus, the device is more suitable for snapshots as for sophisticated images.
The built-in battery keeps loose by many hours Netflix. Loading the Venue 8 Pro via the micro-USB connector. On the one hand great since found all across chargers for this connection today. On the other hand, this port is the only USB port (adapter required). By connecting the device so a USB dock, so you can not provide the same power. This accounts for almost all office work for this device.
This disadvantage leads me finally to sense question of the device. This is indeed equipped with a powerful operating system, but is hampered by the lack of connections, the screen for work on the small screen, and the very small RAM. Thus, the range of media consumption 8 Pro only remains for the Venue. Audio and video tasks done the little tablet with ease. For these tasks, good apps and games are available as well in Windows AppStore. Although the unit is not easy, so you can lie so well watch videos or read books but also on the back.
Anyone looking for a good inexpensive 8 tablet for media consumption, which is equipped with Windows 8.1 instead of Android, here's no bad buy. Thanks Miracast, videos and games can already be wirelessly projected onto many television. This adds value to the device for media consumers. Due to the complexity of Windows 8.1 as compared to Android or IOS, I would advise against buying beginners. Who wants to do office tasks, is not served well with this tablet.
