The oil of Nivea smell very pleasant and not pushy. It is colorless, spreads easily, but draws a not so fast. If it is windy on the sandy beach, I would not use the oil, you can see that is quickly like a breaded schnitzel!
For fair-skinned types without any pre-tanning oil spray is not really suitable. The bottle is smaller than the sprays with sun lotion. That makes perfect sense, however, since the majority of users, the oil probably eh used only in the last days of vacation, besides, the product is much more productive than a cream. I find the bottle handy, the latch is very firm, so you need have no fear that the oil leak in your pocket.
For me personally, the oil is too greasy permanently. For very dry skin, I use it on the legs, otherwise I a normal sun cream or milk is better.
