With these 500AV + I am disappointed:
- The final performance (firmware 5.0.1) is below my 200AV + because the chip that equips plugs 500 (intellon7400) seems more sensitive to network interference than 200AV +: yet I am exactly the same configuration with my catch 200 ...
- The product is manufactured in China (or Asia, but it is not specified on plugs) and tested in Germany (it is written by against wholesale), devolo has developed a very thorough test system compared to competition ... again the plugs felt a bit much plastic (not very qualitative) even if the product finish is excellent.
- The plugs 500 significantly more heat (touch the back) that plugs 200AV + (it may seem obvious for a faster product but it seems to me that the consumption of these products is supposed to be controlled and equivalent to 200 ... there So some-thing wrong)
- A 5.2 firmware (beta) is available, but almost never devolo shows the changes: Here it is supposed to solve problems with the TV on (you must contact their carrier every time is this practice?) IP but it is not explained which ... which would have been interesting since I have the TV IP.
- With the 5.2 firmware initially performance was better (I spent an average of 2/3 MB 6/8 MB Dry sec) but performance deteriorated abruptly for no apparent reason to get underneath my 200AV + (this confirms for me the sensitivity to interference)
- With this firmware 5.2 the plugs were blocked after a period of inactivity (as if they were entering standby but not awakened): it had to disconnect and then reconnect to the PLC network working again.
In short, the product is potentially good and hopefully after a firmware update performance and stability will be improved. But for now, in my context 500AV interest of evolution to + over my 200AV + is almost zero (especially considering the price). Too bad !!
Note: I tested the Netgear 5501 plugs in parallel which are the most powerful moment in time (2.0.9 firmware which is actually the equivalent of 5.0.1 of Devolo because intellon7400 equipped with the same chip) but which also periodically present flow declines (but the smallest effects on devolo weakening since the network results in a return at speeds equivalent to those of my 200AV plugs + what is acceptable). It seems to me as well that there is currently no plugs CPL 500 really "perfect".
