For Japanese classes I, we use this item. I find tedious and annoying to constantly have to navigate the book written in Japanese to the book with notes in French. Impractical, cumbersome, often written too small you need a magnifying glass to see clearly, time is lost searching in a book which corresponds to what we saw in the other. And the irony is that we should still buy 4 CDs next to that! For that price, we should be able to download MP3 files for free or have the CD-mp3 to accompany the book. Besides that clutters the dice will start with the memory of vocabulary without interest for a beginner. I already had the opportunity to learn Dutch in progress to adult, which allows me to compare the practicality of methods. There, really, even motivated, this method is totally off-putting. I really hate to work with these two books, a systematic loss of time. If it is not imposed on you by a teacher, you look for something simpler, cheaper, less bulky and more interesting. It can only be better designed.
